Well, very sort of 'sort of' I'd say ...

By and large, and on the whole, if the object of living a life is to be Jesus-like (and I don't think it is), I do not think that being a member of the CoJCoLDS has made DCP more Jesus-like that he would have been had he been raised, say, a Catholic or a Baptist.

If anything, I think the intellectual and moral strain of having to defend very dubious and obviously vulnerable historical propositions has made him less Jesus-like than he otherwise would have been.

Listen Ray, DCP is a skunk of a person. He is intellectually a dishonest man. Although with that said, I kind of like him because he is fun and knows how to cut up. But, the man is dishonest. He knows damn well that there are things in Mormonism that are rotten. He knows damn well that Facsimile No. 3 is a boil on the ass of the Church. He knows damn well he can't defend the Facsimile and all he can do is avoid it and contemplate further light and knowledge to defend something that can't be defended. He knows this. And, he is not going to discuss it because he knows he will get his ass kicked if he tries.

Anyway, you need not defend DCP. He IS a dishonest man with values that are strictly based on maintaining his job and keeping family happy. We should however, feel quite sorry for him. He is stuck within the confines of his Mormon box. It's sad.

I'm totally opposed to the way he has literally been persecuted and victimised, and run off this board. No matter what he says, it will be misconstrued, and he's damned if he does, and damned if he doesn't. The "wolves" here are waiting with salivated tongues to devour him, and make him an "offender for a word". Their "addiction" is to hate Dan Peterson, and they can't let go of it. Like schools of piranha, they wait to devour the prey without mercy.

Ray, what about DCP do you think provokes this wolf pack like behavior in these posters of which you speak?

It is good to know that if DCP does something that is both stupid and unfair, and if somebody points it out to him, he may backtrack.

In this case, the matter is closed in the sense that there is no more that needs to be done. But the fact that he put the post up in the first place is just another bit of evidence of something that was already notorious - the fact that DCP quite often does really, really ill-judged things that make him look rather foolish in public.

Then he wonders plaintively why people say critical, or even unkind, things about him.

That's remarkable. I guess for once in his life, he actually realized and acknowledged that something he was doing was harmful to somebody else. This is certainly a good start. I give him a gold star.
