There has to be a minimum two visits or extended visit rule. Meaning, before taking a deuce you need to have visited the home two times previous or currently visiting the home for an extended visit of two hours or more. Anyone not abiding by these standards are savages.

Forgot to add that the executive secretary (secretary for the bishop) called our house on Sunday morning asking if we could meet with the Bishop on Tuesday. No reason was given. My wife said no and gave the excuse of being busy in the evening. I am sure this will all pan out well and rumors are not starting to really swirl. I am positive that we are not a new pet project. I am confident that the missionaries and leadership will not start attempting to randomly show up at our house when it works for their schedule in order to give us a spiritual message and ask if they can do anything for us instead of just stating that they are here to reactivate us because numbers are important. I am sure we will be given space and given the freedom to come and go within the faith just like many major faiths (Buddhism, Catholicism, Lutheranism, etc). There is no way this whole thing is about to turn into a disaster.

I miss having the unwitting missionaries, home teachers, and various ward leaders coming by.

Knowing far more than they about the religion that they dared defend in my presence was quite enjoyable. Setting traps was so easy.

But alas, it has been years since I have had fresh meat.

It seems I have been black listed by the missionaries as I see them skip my home when they tract my street for the umpteenth time.

Years ago, I told the bishop in no certain terms that if he chose to continue to harass my children with such gestures that I would fill his office with doubting members.

A couple musings: why does the church always deal with crappy junk food, why not some fresh fruit or something similarly interesting and healthy

If you're not going to resign, why don't you make a friendly suggestion?

quit being bitchy. I hung out with the ward yesterday for trunk or treat. I talked with the bishop and it went well. The primary president is still a piece of crap and needs to respect boundaries. Also, I would not complain if the Church stopped showing up at my door or asking about us, in other major faiths this is normal and called respecting other's space. I understand their (the wards) point of view is: we need saved. Fine, whatever, but most people think Mormons need saved yet most people do not send missionaries and others to randomly knock on Mormons doors. I have Facebook, email, phone, etc. just call ahead and I will let you know if we want you to drop by. If you are funny and nice then yes. If you are bitchy primary president that called out my kids for wearing tank tops then no you are not invited, ever.

Had they chosen to not have contact with you ... I'm sure you would be spouting about getting ostrasized.

You have to look at it from their point of view. Since we know being a Mormon pervades their very existence and is not a once or even twice a week occurence (its 7 days a week)
They have 2 choices .... to ostrasize you or make an effort to include you. (in most states that's just called being neighborly) However you expect them to know your every whim and show up at the appropriate time so as not to influence your daughters. I think this lady knew she had pissed you off , and decided (bravely) to make an effort to reach out. I'm not saying it was the right one ... but whens the last time you made a humble effort? Stop being such a dick your damn self !!!

I did several times. Most took it well. I think the people are generally great but generally intrusive and rude and the rudeness can be attributed to care and compassion but in the form of failed delivery. I would love to remain a part of the ward in social terms, occasionally donate to the fast fund if the fund was still going to the needy, and occasionally attend with the family. Instead it is all or nothing with these people (LDS) and I am not allowed to be only culturally involved.

Ummm, I have no idea what you are talking about lost. I usually only attend sacrament meeting and don't have any intrusion problems. And IF you do run into someone has mental or social problems, you kindly and firmly put them in their place. You should practice phrases like, "I'm sorry, but I don't see how that is any of your business." or "Excuse me, but I don't think that is an appropriate question to ask given that I do not know you."
"You lack vision, but I see a place where people get on and off the freeway. On and off, off and on all day, all night.... Tire salons, automobile dealerships and wonderful, wonderful billboards reaching as far as the eye can see. My God, it'll be beautiful." -- Judge Doom
