Actually, this is usually put forward as exhibit A in theories that can change. Newton's theory of gravitation was overturned by Einstein's General Theory of Relativity which has a completely different basis for what gravity is and how it works.

It changed because of more and better science. I would like to see where science has ever been changed by a religious revelation, vision, text, ethereal being.

Excellent point. Additionally, there are bloggers out there who can't seem to distinguish between when scientists are speaking scientifically and when they expressing their opinions about theology. For example, some bloggers make a huge deal about the scientific credentials of theologians, but, unless I am mistaken, these types of bloggers have yet to post any theological papers that have passed scientific peer review.

I don't even know what it would mean to say revelation has advanced science in some way. There is an actually pretty big semantics problem here it seems to me. I can't even think of a good candidate to consider but if someone else can i'd be happy to think about it.
Lou Midgley 08/20/2020: "...meat wad," and "cockroach" are pithy descriptions of human beings used by gemli? They were not fashioned by Professor Peterson.

LM 11/23/2018: one can explain away the soul of human beings...as...a Meat Unit, to use Professor Peterson's clever derogatory description of gemli's ideology.

Well, Dean, we have the peepstone that Smith used. We have people who claim to be "seers". There should be some demonstration of seership that would establish the objective reality of this superpower. If it worked it should be a great missionary tool. And why wouldn't it work?

Here is the entire page from where I got my quote for this OP. Notice how Peterson also quotes one guy who says that science seems to be making more questions than answers, and the universe just basically leads us to the God issue. Well duh! Science has always led us to more questions. Only a theological scientist would think this significant. I would dare say for every question answered, or issue brought up science brings up myriads of more questions. That is it's power for Pete sake.

Oh and notice how one guy Peterson quotes has THREEE Ph.d's!!!! Now for crap sake doesn't that imply that everything the man says is right, accurate, true, and real? The more degrees seems to be an assumption that he is the more correct. Can anyone spot the fallacy in this kind of thinking? Dr. Peterson is huge with doing this finding only authors to quote who have at least TWO Ph.d's one in science, the other in religion or theology or whatever, and this.......THIS mind you gives us the impression that science far more likely confirms religion than not. That is Dr. Peterson's unspoken assumption, I guaran - damn - tee it..... I am not making fun of the splendid attainments of those who gain multiple Ph.d's. They are vastly superior to me in whatever their Ph.d's are in, without doubt, but that hardly means their authority leads to truth. If it's one thing science refuses to do, is accept reality based on the authority of anyone. It always comes down to evidence and probability, not who is smartest.
