I am so glad this thread was linked to the Terrestial. I did not know. My heart goes out to your wife and family. Let me know if there is something I can do for you outside of only monetary. Having lost a husband to cancer, just know that you can talk to me anytime. Much love and care!

My thoughts are with you guys, Kevin. Holy hell. Karina is a fighter. I wish I could wave a wand and spare you all this meat grinder.

So one month of Chemo ended two weeks ago when they let her come home. The bone marrow biopsy revealed she is 100% cancer free. But they said she still needs to go through the whole routine or else it will come back. So, she was home for about two weeks but she couldn't leave the house and she won't be able to leave the house for 6 months. She can only leave to go back to the hospital, which we do almost every other day. So we're all wearing masks and trying to keep our distance from her while she is immune-compromised.

She started the second round of chemo today and that will last another month. Difference is now she will be going through the pain while here at the house as an outpatient and I'm juggling life as her caretaker while dealing with the kids and work. Next week she will be admitted for 3-4 days so they can monitor her while she is a getting stronger chemo drug.

The cancer is gone, and right now the biggest issue I am dealing with is the craziness coming from her Brazilian family. Her Mom was here the past month but is leaving in the Morning. She keeps trying to give her crap she isn't supposed to take and its pissing me off. And now she has convinced my wife that the cancer is gone because of her prayer and the "miracle foods" she has been giving her. Doctor told me straight up, no herbs, no yogurt, no soft cheeses, no meats that haven't been thoroughly cooked, no restaurant foods, etc. And she has tried to give her quite literally everything he said was disallowed.

Last week they postponed her chemo to today because her liver levels were too high and they wanted her liver to recover before pounding it again with more drugs. So her sister from Brazil orders Milk Thistle, an herb, and has it delivered to my house. I'm glad I saw it before she gave it to her. I don't know what it is about her family thinking they know more than the damned doctor. She is literally at one of the best, if not the best, hospitals for Leukemia in the USA.

wow! I'm glad for you both that she is now cancer free. I hope she can stay that way!

This week I begin daily radiation treatment for prostate cancer, which I will probably have to endure for about 2 months. I'm not terribly worried, though. It's in its early stages, and prostate cancer tends to grow very slowly anyway, even if not treated, and is one of the most easily curable types of cancer. My urologist and oncologist both assure me that if one has to have cancer, prostate cancer is one of the best types to have. I am not in any pain or discomfort, and don't feel the slightest bit incapacitated, except for not being able to pee without the help of a catheter.

That’s great news, Kevin. I hope her recovery goes well and that the cancer stays away.

Gunnar, I hope your treatment goes well. My dad had an aggressive type of prostate cancer and they were able to treat it just fine.

Thanks for that, RI. It is encouraging to hear that!

Great news!
