I have a daughter moving out of town who's almost 19, and I'm fearful of her being alone. I can't imagine what kids at ages like these are going though, and their parents must be going out of their minds.

I had a Mexican guy working at a chicken plant in NC coach my kids' soccer teams. I'm friends with a Mexican guy who's here on an expired Visa and can never go home again because he won't be able to come back. His wife and kids are citizens, so he's essentially living in an open air prison. For the rest of his life he can never go home, and it's all because he just wants to work his ass off, which he does, building and restoring homes.

This is how we treat our friends? Our fellow Americans? Our neighbors? This is absoultely not acceptable.

by the way, I haven't heard back from any of my elected officials.

Doc, if your friend's wife and kids are U.S. Citizens, doesn't that make him eligible for a green card and enable him to get on the path to citizenship? It was my understanding that that was one of the surest ways to gain legal residency status, provided that there was no reason to suspect a scam marriage for the sole purpose getting a green card. Am I mistaken about that, or has that changed recently?

Naw, im aware of our nation's history, and the history of numerous nations. None of which you seem to have entwined with any position on illegal immigration. Or are you proposing that an America must forfeit the notion of legal immigration because "Battle for Mexico City"?

Labor exploitation as an immigration policy is interesting, but how is this relevant here? Are you suggesting that i am unwilling to pay more for chicken?

Imagine if this guy had applied the same tencaity to simply renewing his visa, or applying for citizenship? Why is it so difficult for guys like you to imagine that this guy had plenty of simple opportunities to avoid such a situation? And now, bevause of their own decisions you would give them preferential treatment over people who obeyed the law.

According to Abraham Lincoln the justification for war with Mexico was based on false pretenses and never should have happened. We effectively stole half of their land, what is currently Texas and California.

There is a sense of irony that we're constantly telling our neighbor's to the south that they have no business crossing over into "El Paso" (The Path) or "Puerto Palomas" (Port of Doves) which are Red White and Blue "American" towns where people are expected to speak English!

The raid, by the way, was conducted after workers won a lawsuit against the employer who happily employed them for years knowing their status. This was just straight out retribution.

I'm on business travel right now in Seattle and there are Latinos everywhere here. I went to a restaurant and there was a family sitting a couple tables away from me. There were six of them, a couple, three kids and the grandmother, I'm guessing.

The thing that struck me about this particular family was just the pure joy they seemed to experience having dinner together. They were laughing and talking carefree. The kids were young and incredibly cute, sweet and well-behaved.

All I could think about was what would happen to them if they were suddenly forced apart, and I got pissed off just thinking about it. It would eliminate all that good positive emotion they were putting out.

This government is making our country perceptibly worse, and they're doing it on purpose. We need a word stronger than assholes to describe this administration, ICE, and the people who support them.

So, if a criminal's arrest inconveniences their child then we should not arrest or detain the criminal?
Im confused if this is a policy that you are only extending to brown people that need your white salvation, or if our local meth dealer is extended the same white tears when the DEA comes knocking?

or are you just upset that the kids of detained and arrested people are not being treated in a manner you consider to be appropriate?...notwithstanding how the recent ICE raid saw hundreds of detainees released because they did have children at home...keep that in mind when our local meth dealer is arrested and child services takes his kid in lieu of the aforementioned brown people courtesy (a.k.a. dnc 2020 campaign strategy).
