With Republicans controlling the Senate, wouldn't there essentially be legislative gridlock? They have proven themselves to be effective obstructionists.
Klobuchar has been a Senator since 2006, much of her time in office was during the Obama years with the Republicans controlling the Senate. Like I said, her qualifications are demonstrating she appears to be one of the most effective Democrats in getting legislation through the gridlock.
There is no magic moment in modern US politics where a party gets to run any old bit of legislation through. The first two Obama years and Trump years should make it clear, there are too many factions internal to the two parties for anyone to be massively successful without being able to build coalitions and craft legislation a majority will support which isn't going to happen naturally even if the Democrats take both Chambers and the White House. Let's be real about how politics actually works. With the Republicans in the minority, the House still is a herd of cats for Pelosi with conflicting interests and priorities under the Democrat umbrella. And it's supposed to work that way by design.
The solution isn't to just keep whittling away at the people who don't think the same way you do. Doing that leaves a person alone and ineffective.

Actually, Trump is a good counter point to the above, but he is a manifestation of decades of neocon destruction of the Republican party. It took a lot of two-faced promises and lies to make it possible someone like Trump can not only win but thrive among lower income Republicans. His approval rating among Republican voters is a super power that allows him to shove Republican congresspersons around at will. Making Trump angry is seen as the fastest path to being primaried which is the main threat most Republicans fear more than any Democrat challenger. It will take time before Democrat voters demonstrate they would really around a personality like that who would allow a President to run over the factions in their party like a tank driving over Legos a person walking barefoot would wince at attempting. So I guess there are exceptions. I don't see them in the next year of the Democrat's future and when it does happen...yeah. Time to turn out the lights though that kind of dynamic isn't likely to go home quietly just because last call was announced and the lights turned off. They'll set fire to the furniture if need be. Don't believe that? Trump. There's nothing saying he can't happen to the Democrats. And it's likely something similar will and lots of people will cheer when it does just like subbie and Ajax cheer on Trump. Good times.

It's both remarkable and insane how Trump seems to disdain actual knowledge and expertise and consistently chooses people who seem to share that disdain.
