Choosing the label populist is choosing an extreme political identity. If you weren't an extremist, you'd find a home in a political ideology or just not care enough to self-label. It inherently requires one to view government as broken and for one to be in opposed position to said broken government. It's why it doesn't take much to turn populist rallies into riots. That applies to populists who are drawn from the right and the left.

I would love to see Kishkumen come in on this one. I would be fascinated. I think I have the most political overlap with Kishkumen and Doc Cam of any posters on this board. (I have also have probably the most amount of disagreement with them too. Do NOT confuse what I am saying here.) I disagree with them a LOT, but I agree with their views on a few common sense issues that send your friendly and cooperative citizens to the sidelines or the other side.

Populists rallies do not turn into riots because people do not choose to be Democrats or Republicans. The assertion is insane. The extremists are not the people in the middle with jobs, children, lives, hobbies, religions or a serious medical condition that prevents them from getting wrapped around an axle because of FOX/CNN.

The populists deserve some dignity, honor. And you, prefer to just be a hateful POS to them. Good luck with that.

Interesting that you dislike the idea populism is extremism so much you attribute saying so to being hateful. Yet you also seem to think the inherent assumption of a politically oppositional and revolutionary identity is benign.

You are twisting things here, honor. I think you should walk away from your rabid rants, but if you are not going to, calm down and keep this on the rails.

I think it is hateful and hurtful to judge people as extreme because they do not pick one or the other ideological side, especially the ideological sides you are offering as options. Neither of your options are ideal, and being a populist and not favoring the elitist model for governance is not extreme - except in your eyes.

Being a populist is not politically oppositional, it is oppositional to the elites. Being a populist is not a revolutionary identity. But, I do see how you need it to be in order to satisfy your own rationalization for being so sold on a single ideology. You need ANYONE who is not in your ideology to be extreme, including those who just do not give AF or those that are part of another ideological group.

This no different than the one true church ideology where "whore of all the earth" wasn't meant to apply just to Catholicism, it was meant to apply to everyone but the one true church. You ascribe to a definition and interpretation of populism that puts EVERYONE who does not agree and align with you into an extreme whore basket.
