Now that Nemo has shown the way isn't the next logical step for someone, rather than simply resigning, to do this during General Conference?

My memory may be funky, but I recall this happening around the time the movement for women and the priesthood was at its peak.

Interestingly, while trying to search for proof of my memory, I instead stumbled on this conference record from 1977:

Sustaining of Church Officers
It seems, President Kimball, that the voting has been unanimous in favor of these officers and General Authorities, and we would ask those new members of the First Quorum of the Seventy to take their seats with their brethren, please.
