Yes, your poor reading comprehension skills have often been noted on this forum! Besides that, I never argued that her allegations were absolutely, indisputably true. Only that there was less reason to impugn her credibility than Kavanaugh's, who has been shown to have lied under oath, and not only by me.

No precept or claim is more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

I'm not victim blaming. Merely acknowledging that being under the influence of alcohol can impair the accuracy of one's recollections. That she might have been urged or tricked into drinking something before the assualt does not make her any less an innocent victim.
I was teasing you and parodying a typical reaction of a "progressive" had a Conservative made your comment.

I think we're at the weird place in society now where abstract concepts like due process and presumption of innocence is sexist. Or racist. Or whatever. Why not.

Not really, unless you are exclusively refering to alcoholic beverages. Like you, I can happily do without them for the rest of my life. Alcohol does have a lot of very valuable uses, though.

I am so relieved to hear that! I like you too, even though you sometimes indulge!

Horrors! I'm glad I live in this age!

To be honest with you, Gunnar, I know I'd be better off not drinking ale on the weekend. I just love it a tad too much - India Pale Ale specifically, not just any old booze. In fact, I doubt I'd drink anything at all anymore if it weren't for craft beer. I swore off hard liquor a long time ago, and I've never really liked wine. Oh, and lager taste like piss (at least, what I imagine piss tastes like, not that I've spent a long time imagining the taste of piss. It's just that lager looks like piss and tastes awful, and don't even get me started on pilsners).
So really, the only difference between us is I drink IPAs on the weekend and you don't. Yeah. That's about it.
*grin*
God belief is for people who don't want to live life on the universe's terms.
Huh. So I was curious to see if the Republicans are lining up alternates, and apparently there's quite a bit of jockeying taking place behind the scenes. One of the names that was up for consideration before Kavanaugh was nominated is Judge Amy Coney Barrett. She's young, a mother of seven, very Conservative, and from what it appears, not a fan of Roe v Wade, or at least it appears that way because she doesn't see why precedents can't be overturned, or at least parts can be tweaked.
If Kavanaugh is dumped I wouldn't be surprised if she gets the nod, as long as her yearbook doesn't have any references to boofing.

Weird that Kavanaugh allegedly assaulted only registered Democrats.

Well, whatever the case may be with Kavanaugh, I do think the Republicans need to be, or rather need to put on a show of equanimity when comes to the whatever this thing is they're doing on Thursday with Ms. Ford. Senator Lisa Mukowski kind of sent a shot across their bow:
“We are now in a place where it’s not about whether or not Judge Kavanaugh is qualified,” Murkowski told the New York Times Monday night. “It is about whether or not a woman who has been a victim at some point in her life is to be believed.”
She's on record as being open to an investigation, whatever that means, and seems not super happy about the vote on Friday. Apparently she was done dirty by Republicans back in 2010 (she's also not a Trump fan, whatsoever), but still managed to pull off a win through a write-in campaign. I'm not sure if the public posturing is politicking on her side, or if she's just acting on her conscience. So, she's definitely someone to keep on eye on Friday.

Apparently, Republican women love the treatment and think it is normal behavior for boys.
Weird that a guy who went to an all boys school was able to find 65 registered Republican women vouch for him 35 years later within hours. One of them changed her tone after reading his yearbook entry.
