Re: Trump whistleblower complaint
Trump is obscenely unpopular right now given the fundamentals, but the very cool thing about authoritarian rule is that they end up controlling the means of information such that their popularity usually stays high until reality intrudes by losing a war or an economic crash. It's a form of psychological comfort to know the American people, by and large, don't like Trump very much. There's a future where his name is dirt and even his most ardent supporters pretend like they never liked him. But there's also a future where he's lionized and young children learn how he made America Great again in their textbooks. We're not far off from the latter being very much on the table.

Yep. Part of our glorious plan for making America great forever is loose monetary policy to juice the economy when Republicans are perceived to have power and, on the chance a Democrat momentarily gets elected to the presidency, then austerity and tight monetary policy it is.

one of the reasons is a policy and action that Obama also participated in?

You're saying Obama had the same policy? Please support this.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Sondland comes clean and says it was a quid pro quo. This is huge because there is no way the Trump camp can discredit him. He gave $1 million to Trump and that is the reason Trump gave him an ambassadorship. Apparently Trump misunderstands his own loyalists. Contrary to his expectations, all of them aren't entirely corrupt to the core.

Oh, he's corrupt. This is a rat fleeing the ship situation. Trump probably is safe from impeachment and therefore has impunity to violate the law, but he does have a habit of not paying loyalty back with loyalty. You know, like every other authoritarian that these guys lack the foresight to learn about before getting in bed with. His goons can go down. So Sondland gave the testimony best suited to protect himself.

That would be interesting as rate cuts serve to encourage borrowing but the real challenges slowing the economy down are demand issues. Many caused by the trade war. It's questionable if cheaper borrowing could actually do much in real terms to help. I'm sure the market might nudge up over the news but that's about it. As it is, there are apparently people interest d in the timing of Trump tweets that have stock market influence and unusual buying and selling behaviour. It's something new going on where whether or not someone close to Trump (and how close are they) is making last minute trades worth billions of dollars with the uncanny ability to anticipate Trump tweets and other Trump announcements that have real power too cause market movement.
