Or at least the independent version. I think you're forgetting the compound.

I was referring to the independent version. I just remember Nikki in the first season wearing that sexy dress to the award ceremony. She was hot in that dress. But like I said, in a plural marriage one must look at the eternal perspective and not a worldly one. But still, beauty is given from god.

Hard not to have some lust for her in a plural marriage. It all brings to mind that without a god inspired relationship, such marriages would be difficult to manage. Lust should not come into the picture but the eternal perspective should be the cornerstone of the marriages.

That horses*** is why people live out in a compound and molest children.

Nice justification tool.

I think that independent polygamy can work quite well, if all in the relationship understand the eternal perspective. Of course, there will be human problems in the relationship but with a correct understanding and motive, all would be well. I have only seen year one of the show. I have no idea what is happening now on the show.

Episode 2. 6 Thoughts

1) Just when this show couldn't get anymore awesomer, they drop a ton of bombshells!!!!

2) Bill has to team up with Roman now that another Prophet is in the mix....and this Prophet has Danites!!! And these Danites have branding irons!!!! That totally came outta nowhere!

3) This show is heading towards Sopranos country with the organized crime and shady deals, and I couldn't be happier!

4) Did you see the title of the pamphlet the son got??? "Satan's Thrust" is totally going to be my avatar custom title at some point!!!!

5) Rhonda.....said.......KISS OFF!!!! To Barb!!!! And right after Barb had laid the smackdown to Sara's friends' dad. These women have balls of solid rock about the size of glaciers.

6) After all the landmines Bill has stepped in....he finally makes the smart move and dumps the Serbian gal.....but is it over?? (I doubt it)

7) Is it just me, or should Bill not have gotten in the unmarked van after 1) his business associate was branded in the ass, 2) his boat was set on fire, 3) his tires had just been slashed

8) Is it possible to "cockblock" yourself.....because Bill did it at least twice in this episode. Anna was throwing herself at Bill, and Bill had to pull the righteous man crap. Bill has only gotten laid once on camera this whole season. Remember last season?

9) In case you didn't notice, this show is getting better and better! Which leads me to ask.....

10) How could they up the ante? Are they going to stage an "that escalated quickly" Anchorman-esque street fight between modern-day polygamist Danites? Are Islamic polygamists going to attack, forcing Mormon polygamists to unite to fight a nuclear threat? How much further can this show push the envelope?

Alright I'm sure I missed out on some more stuff....but this episode deserves a 2nd watching. I may post more tomorrow.

11) Add on.....I forgot the most important thing: No Nudity!!! I thought Anna was showing some skin, and yet men everywhere were denied once again. Come on!!! It's HBO.

12) Is "They're only shoes....and besides I'm walking on air" not the best line in history.

Your're right Bond. I loved last night's episode and may watch it again today while doing yoga.

I loved the new, scarier rival prophet! His squad of hitwomen who torched Bill's boat was solidly grounded in historical fact: wasn't it Ervil LaBaron who had his band of hit-wives take out rival Rulon Allred, machine-gunning him down in his naturopath office?

Also, is there anything scarier than a branding-iron wielding, gender-indeterminate, fundamentalist hatchet "man?" Perhaps only an over-sized goon with an ill-fitting Three Stooges toupee. After the time I spent yesterday consulting my library for castration accounts for KA's myth-buster's thread, I took the branding as a metaphorical de-balling, an old-fashioned Jeddy Grant-style chastisement.

I also love Margene more and more. Her simple love for his sisterwives, her regard for Ana, well, I find it really touching. I thought the episode ended so sadly.

Hate the Tuttles. I think they used to be in my ward.

My blood ran cold during Ben's unoffical "bishop's interview." Every detail perfect. "Is she a member? Will she join?"

I think that was a woman with the branding iron (although I could be mistaken)...........and that goon in the "Moe" wig was hilarious. I was waiting for him to turn sideways to pass through doors.

Yeah I love Margene too.....her friendship with Ana is why I think we'll see her again.

Yeah I hate them......but I think it's hilarious that the father is played by the same guy who once played Steve Carey, Drew's crossdressing brother on The Drew Carey Show. (I miss that show, well the early years anyway).

Another great scene......kinda overshadowed by the rest of the plot but I'm sure people who've been there had a chill run down their spines.

Its the first time they've been seen. They may have been alluded to briefly before. Roman commented on a rival making "all of us look bad" or something when there was a newscast about the guy in the background. There have also been off-hand remarks about other groups that the Juniper Creek bunch look down on...

I confess to a Drew Carey guilty pleasure or two. I still kinda have a crush on Oswald.

Well the Hendrickson's were once fundamentalist royalty so before he got lostboyed by the compound, Bill could have hobnobed with rival prophets in his youth.

The person you allude to is named "Selma," which I've always thought was female, but look at the Mormon use of "Alma." I think the plot synopsis on the Big Love website refers to Selma as "he," but posters on their message board are calling Selma "she."

The whole thing smacks of the LaBaron/Allred power struggles of the late 70's.
