Significant changes, Boaz. I doubt you would recognize a reformation, no matter what it entailed.

That is absolutely untrue and you know it, Boaz. For every change the church has undertaken, it started somewhere. The temple penalties are gone, the garments have changed, the meeting schedule has changed... those are just a few examples of changes caused by members like Jason.

I think this is true. In fact many of the programs the Church uses such as welfare, Sunday School, Primary, etc. came from grass roots implementations of programs. I think the Church will respond when there is critical mass.

However, I believe the Church has very carefully structured itself to minimize the voice of NOMs and you all have your work cut out for you.

That is not your business. When you are called as my bishop, you can ask me that. Until then, it's bad manners to ask that question.

My point is I am a member of my ward, and because of that membership, I have some privileges. One of those privileges is that I don't pay to use my ward building, no matter what my tithing level is.
IF you have paid tithes over the years, then I'd say you prepaid for ALL of the above things that you are calling FREE.

They're spending several thousand dollars for renting the site. I paid nothing. She is quite envious of my budget and the timing for my youngest son's wedding last month.
And you got what you paid for, nothing. Nothing more than a pathetic basketball court at the local Mormon church for your son's wedding.

Tell your friend she is lucky to NOT be hogtied to the same cult as you.

There is no free lunch, Boaz. I didn't say they were free. I said I paid nothing for their use. Why? Because I paid my tithing, and my tithing helps maintain the building and the grounds. Same thing happens when I pay my taxes. I have access to fire fighters, police, ambulance service, road maintenance, schools, parks and rec programs, etc at no further cost. Just as I don't expect the government to run on nothing, I don't expect the church to run on nothing.

Actually, you're wrong... again. My son was married in the chapel, with full regalia. And it's a good thing we had the gym for the reception, because there were 'way too many people for any of the other rooms in the building.

Dear gawd! Complete with the condescending bishop running the ceremony?

I dunno which would be worse, the civil ceremony in the chapel or basketball court.

Sure the place was packed, the cult members were all in attendance in hopes your son will get his act together and commit to the rules of the cult by being sealed within a year.

I supposed at the end of the month, the most important thing is whether you and your husband have paid a full tithe.

Eat, drink, and be merry. Stop paying tithes and the kingdom will fall.

My older brother was more pathetic than all of you so called cafeteria Mormons.

Get this, until I showed him that Mormonism is false, he and his wife still paid a full tithe, even while being completely inactive.

They were inactive for over six years and yet they still paid a full tithe on gross income during that time.

STUPID. PATHETIC. FOOLISH.

Can you imagine the ward clerk as he scratches his head in complete wonderment at the full tithe from a fully inactive member? My brother said every two years he would have to introduce himself as the inactive family who paid a full tithe.

My father who has been inactive sense he was 18-he is now 74-stared paying tithing a few years ago-because he wanted to.
Just cause you are a rigid pathetic ass does not mean others cannot do thing for whatever reasons they personally want to. You are the antithesis TBM hard nose. Pathetic is your favorite word because that is exactly what you are.

We had a lesson on that years ago in a combined Relief Society/EQ meeting.

The bishop called that death bed tithing.

The thing that is pathetic is that people of many different cults/religions allow others to guilt them into such behaviors.

I do not think he has guilt about this. He still does not attend though he takes a HT visit. He says he does not believe in God really. But he likes religion and likes to talk about it. He even lets the Jehovah's Witnesses in to chat and argue with them. I asked him why he was tithing and he said he just felt like it. I know your it is tough for your one note mind to grasp such a thing.

Sounds like a plan. We can meet at the Mormon Cafeteria in the big mall. Can't wait for a plate of twice cooked Christian Gospel, a side of the Four Noble Truth and perhaps a Course in Miracles. Besides that, did someone mention a greased pig?

Those prix fixes meals at the table d'hôte just can't compare with a good international buffet in preparation for the BIG BANQUET in the restaurant at the end of the Universe.
