BC, my point is this: Why don't the Church leaders speak as openly and apologetically as you do about plural marriage, to the public?
Because it's the general public, most not even fairly introduced to the subject as you and I are and not in a situation that would allow them all to have their questions answered immediately and appropriately as can be done here.
Yeah, I know about that, BC. I also know that the Book of Mormon has absolutely ZERO to say about "eternal polygamy" and D&C 132, except to condemn both.
I know that the "general public" need to be "appeased" with media milk, too. Hence the "spin".
This is just my feeling about the leaders - I think they think this "doctrine" isn't worth defending, because not only is it contrary to the Book of Mormon, but plain common sense. But to admit that this doctrine is based on legal abuse sustained by scripture is too much to wear. So FLDS polygamy is outright condemned in the hope of some kind of proxy forgiveness for holding to such absurd ideas of marriage, which will never be publicly admitted to today. "They" are totally wrong. "We" abandoned these "absurd ideas" "long ago".
Did they? That's what I'm seeking - one way or another. This clarification from the leaders. Or is there some kind of secret society of "true believers" here?

You still refuse to look.

I would never admit such because it isn't based on abuse.

LDS plural marriage is also condemned. This is just a selective strawman.

Everything is perfectly clear to those who don't refuse to look.

Tell no man that "we" will have a multitude of wives, and endless "seed" because of our faithfulness. Celestial rewards. Be good, be righteous, and you'll get all the women you want. "Endless felicity", as Parley described it. Sex and charity and the "love of Christ". All makes sense. Do good, and even your penis will be rewarded with some celestial excitement and endless posterity issuing therefrom. Although only an appendage, it's one of the "benefits" of being "Christlike".
That's not quite what I see in the Book of Mormon. That's quite what I see in Joseph's further elaborations.
All things are illegal, but with God all things become legal.

And which way are you looking, BC? "Clear" in which aspect? It seems clear to me that you hang on to a theology clearly embedded in personal fantasies of one sort or another. That obviously brings you real joy. I don't admire the same aspects of Mormonism that you do. If Joseph Fielding Smith brings quivers to your heart, then let it be known that all the Mormon heretics, through all the ages, have, for me, endorsed one foundational aspect of this great religion - and that is to seek truth, from whatever source it may come. Not to place "spin" upon that truth. I don't want to see a kind of "Answers In Genesis" ever evolve in Mormonism, but sadly that's what I'm seeing in so many quarters.
I noticed that that "Polygamy, Sorry Looking For An Answer" thread was closed after I got in trouble, opened again, and now has been closed again without explanation. Kind of strange.
I guess this confirms my suspicions and vindicates me as far as the accusation that got me in trouble goes.
I'm so glad you had the foresight to do a screen capture of that post before it was deleted. I can't believe the dumb b*tch forgot to sign out of her mod account before posting! Priceless! LOL

Yep, you called it!
:-(
All these guys who are hoping for the day, fantasizing as they post are too excited about the future to see the practice/doctrine for what it is, a sick perversion of a relationship; an animalistic mating practice for powerful males to obtain/own women and girls for their sexual pleasure. A practice that even their scriptures clearly state will break the hearts of their wives and daughters. They don't care. They could care less about their wives, daughters, or their relationships.
So long as their fantasy remains in tack their wives can go to Hell, (or a lower Kingdom), their daughters can be degraded and demeaned and broken hearted... no big deal.
It is quite a perversion. It demonstrates how the mind of a true believer works.
