LOL.

Mister Scratch wrote:if some *other* person's opinion "didn't matter." The mere fact that you are trying to so hard to distance FARMS from the Skinny List is blinding proof of this.

That's right. If there are any lurkers here on this board, your false allegations should not go unchallenged.

Skinny-L and FARMS are, simply, quite distinct things. With some membership overlap. Like residents of New York State and Mormons who attend the Manhattan Temple.

There is some overlap. Like residents of New York State and Mormons who attend the Manhattan Temple.

Mister Scratch wrote:Both groups utilize petty name-calling
Both groups revel in attacking critics

That's a mischaracterization of both FARMS and Skinny-L.

Mister Scratch wrote:Both groups rely upon dubious "support"/"peer review"

I wasn't even aware that private e-mail lists used "peer review."

Mister Scratch wrote:So, again, would you like to revise your earlier statement that you are not embarrassed about the activities of the l-skinny apologists?

No.

Mister Scratch wrote:Would you care much if the "big spenders" who donate to the MI knew about the goings-on of l-skinny?

No.

Mister Scratch wrote:I bet you would, which is why you are now trying to put a whole lot of distance between the two groups.

You lose.

Mister Scratch wrote:I bet you'd really hate it if certain FARMS folks were to discover some of the "gang-like" stuff you and the other Skinny-ites were up to.

I couldn't possibly care less.

Go ahead and send it to them, if you'd like.

Mister Scratch wrote:I'm afraid that it shows you being less-than-honest once again.

Why, of course it does. I'm Dan Peterson, and you're Master Scartch. Ergo, you being who you are and I being who I am, you have, once again, proven to your satisfaction that I'm dishonest.

This yet another watershed moment in the history of Mopologetics. A fiasco and a debacle, to use a couple of your favorite words.

Mister Scratch wrote:You hide stuff pertaining to the Quinn smear campaign.

By denying that it happened.

Mister Scratch wrote:You equivocate on the issue of apologetic payment.

By denying your ridiculous allegations.

Mister Scratch wrote:You deceive people via your "FreeThinker" and "LogicChopper" sockpuppets.

The use of pseudonyms on message boards is manifestly immoral. You deserve considerable credit for posting here under your own name, Master Scartch.

Mister Scratch wrote:Now you claim that there is "no relation" between FARMS and l-skinny, when, quite clearly, there i s.

I've said that there's some overlap in people. I've said that's all there is.

Both statements are entirely true.

Tough luck for your fantasies.

Mister Scratch wrote:Since the activities which have occurred within this list reflect on the reputation of FARMS and LDS apologetics in general,

They do?

Maybe in Scartchworld. Nowhere else.

Mister Scratch wrote:I would imagine that they'd be somewhat interested in learning what has happened.

I doubt it.

Mister Scratch wrote:I would imagine that wealthy LDS who have donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to the Mopologetic effort would be interested to learn that this kind of stuff is "part of the package."

LOL. "Part of the package"???

Mister Scratch wrote:Tell me, Does a "Liahona"-level membership come with the guarantee that an unstable Internet critic will be needled and ridiculed to the point of profanity?

Of course! People donating to us at that level should get something, don't you think? So that's our pledge: "Skinny-L, an official department of the Maxwell Institute, will needle and ridicule all unstable internet critics to the point of profanity."

Mister Scratch wrote:You could do a better job of saving face by just admitting that you feel badly about l-skinny's behavior.

But I'd be lying if I did.

Transferring this from joey's "get a life" thread because I think it warrants different treatment on this particular thread.

Gad wrote:I think it's a very odd insult to hurl at Scratch. Since no one really knows anything about him.

That's correct. No one really knows anything about Scratch except for the single obvious fact that he seeks to create an illusion of self importance by attaching himself (think leech) to relatively high profile persons in the public "mind" by writing about people that he really knows nothing about nor has any relevance to in real life.

"No, you have no idea who you're dealing with! I am the terror that flaps in the night! I am the nightmare who awakens you from your dreams!"

I think he said he was the terror who "quacks" in the night. He was assuming the role of one of his cartoon characters, "Dark Wing" the duck.

Hmm... I think you are correct Kevin, JP did say "I am the terror that quacks in the night," but the actual quote from the DWD show is "I am the terror that flaps in the night." JP got the quote slightly wrong when he fired if off to Skinny. Now I remember actually looking that up back then because it didn't sound quite right.

What "false allegations"? It seems to me that I simply reported what Kristi had said, and the way that Gary Novak handled the whole affair. I also pointed out that FARMS shares some of its members with l-skinny. At that point, you proceeded to swoop in to engage in "damage control" (I guess).

What, I am curious to know, is "false" about anything I have said here? I'll be waiting patiently for you to enlighten me. In the meantime, I will continue to reflect upon the meanings and motives underlying your testimony that you are not "embarrassed" about the l-skinny behavior.

Skinny-L and FARMS are, simply, quite distinct things. With some membership overlap. Like residents of New York State and Mormons who attend the Manhattan Temple.

Right. Just like how Internet and Chapel Mormons are "simply, quite distinct things."

There is some overlap. Like residents of New York State and Mormons who attend the Manhattan Temple.

Well, hey: there is some "overlap" between the LDS Church, the FLDS Church, and the Laffertys. Right?

I think Grant Palmer, Mike Quinn, and many others would beg to differ.

Mister Scratch wrote:Both groups rely upon dubious "support"/"peer review"

Well, FARMS doesn't either (not really, anyways), so what's the difference? ; )

Right.

Don't wait. Re-read the thread.

Do that. It'll keep you occupied for a while.

Mister Scratch wrote:Right. Just like how Internet and Chapel Mormons are "simply, quite distinct things."

Blather blather irrelevant blather.

Mister Scratch wrote:I think Grant Palmer, Mike Quinn, and many others would beg to differ.

There's no need to beg. It's a free country. They can differ all they like.

Har har har.

A joke, in order to work, has to have at least some contact with reality.

Then what, I have to wonder, did you think the "damage" was? That people might link skinny-l with FARMS?

I'm not going to do your work for you. Just think: you can condemn me with this! Oooh, imagine it! At last, Master Scartch will be exposed!

Mister Scratch wrote:In the meantime, I will continue to reflect upon the meanings and motives underlying your testimony that you are not "embarrassed" about the l-skinny behavior.

Probably not, since I keep bumping up against the unavoidable conclusion that your are engaging in "spin control" due to embarrassment.

Great response! Almost worthy of the FARMS Review, I daresay!

Scratch wrote:Right: you secretly shared the list. Boy, you're really struggling today, aren't you, Prof. P.?

What does that mean? Are you saying that he *wouldn't* share the list? That he *would* share the list or that he's lying?

What's the gist here?

I can't afford to spend much time here today and I just did want to clear something up here. Scratch's remarks as copied above, were unclear to me as to intent. What is meant by "really struggling"? The intention there is unclear.

In any case, Daniel did share the list of names with another poster. He shared it with me about a month ago in a series of casual PM exchanges. There are less than 20 names on the list.
