Imagine if Mormons had used all those resources and efforts to help fight abuse against women and children, finding cures for diseases, feeding the hungry, building schools/education, relief for victims of disaster, etc.
Even if a person- views homsexual behavior as a sin/immoral, I don't understand why Mormons would donate so much money to this issue when there are so many crimes against humanity that should take presedence.
You need to be honest with yourself. You still would be complaining about the LDS church. Now lets be logical. Should the LDS church come out and support gay marriage? Yes?? If it did you would be one of the first to condemn the LDS church for trying to be popular due to losing membership stats.
Outside of the protestant mainstream, religious faiths will have a hard time supporting something that seems to contradict the Bible.
Oh and by the way, the LDS church does give money to support people in need and toward other issues. Sorry, if you are disappointed but it is difficult to please everyone during these days of idenity truths.

why me wrote:Today we live in a postmodern world where anything goes. And for those that are against aspects of postmodernism, there is a sense that one is longer free to voice a contrary opinion...just look at poor Miss California. Most LDS are taking a look at what is going on around them... and they don't like what they see.

whyme just look at the bolded and that is what Beastie was doing....voicing a contrary opinion and it was resented by the your beloved MADites.
Your tone sucks but guess what you won't be suspended or banned or anything here like your ilk do on a regular basis at MAD.
You're being two-faced, but what's new.
I think it would be morally right to lie about your religion to edit the article favorably. bcspace

And of course, for religious people, the Bible does not sanction the gay lifestyle nor gay marriage.
And in what way has Gay marriage contributed to this attack? You mean a 50% divorce rate in America is caused by "Gay marriage"?
Divorce is caused by the breakdown of the marriage vows and notions of family life. Divorce is also easy and fashionable. The laws changed and made it easier to divorce. I have seen men and women kick out the guy or woman because of lack of love, lack of constant happiness, pleasure, sex etc. Divorce has become a used car lot with trade in value. Now of course, there are good reasons for divorce too. But it is too easy to divorce these days.
Gay marriage is just one step on the ladder in the breakdown of the traditional family.

"why me" Nice try. But there is a difference. Gay marriage challenges current definitions of family as being between a man and a woman. Now of course, since the advent of common consent divorce there are many types of families. But the concept of the nuclear family was not challenged until recently. And I might add that the 1960's brought about the first inroads in destroying family life and we are seeing just one more step in that direction with same sex marriage. The traditional family is under attack once more but it has been now for a couple of decades by other forces. And we can see the chaos around us.
How ironic to see Mormons preach that gay marriage is attacking the traditional family unit.
Even more ironic, that legalizing gay marriage could open the door for Mormons to finally practice polygamy legally.

You still haven't answered my question. In what way has Gay marriage led to the breakdown of the "nuclear family"? All I'm asking for is a concrete example of how Gay marriage has led to the 50% divorce rate. The way you and Wade talk, it would seem it's a major cause of marital breakdown.

It is just one more step on the ladder toward undermining the nuclear family. In some classrooms, those children with a traditional family are in a minority. Gay marriage is just one more step in redefining the nuclear family. Gay marriage has not led to the 50% divorce rate but it does put into question once more the notion of the nuclear family as between a man and a woman who are married together.
