Why should I point my finger at Gaz? I have enough problems myself to last a lifetime.

Gaz has come a long way since he posted that response to Beastie. That's why I would like to hear some clarification about what he meant by "missing" children who are gay.

Gaz....do you mean that you would kick your kids out of the house if they were gay? I have a hard time believing that you would.

I'm glad to hear it. And you should do more than that - you should love them. If, hypothetically, you had a gay child, you should tell them of your unconditional love for them, even if you don't personally approve of how they live.

Ray,
You are absolutely right. I agree with every word you said.

I would tell my child that, and I would also write it down and place it inside their suitcase so that they can reflect on it while he/she relaxes in whatever bohemian flophouse they settle into as they decide whether or not to repent of their repugnant behavior.

Why would I allow one of my children, if they were to turn to homosexuality, to influence my other children with their bawdy lifestyle and profane stories?

They would have to remove themselves from my home. Period.

The story of the prodigal son applies, of coarse.

OK....So....let's look at this hypothetical, Gaz.

Your daughter comes to you and is confused about her sexuality. She has not acted on anything, but she believes she is gay.

I can understand you putting rules in place, such as....."You are not allowed to perform sexual acts in my home....homosexual or heterosexual..."

But would you really emphatically turn you kid out on the street for merely admitting that he or she might be gay? And do they know you feel this way?

And if so, how concerned are you with promoting an honest, open dialogue with your kids?

Liz,

Only if they have acted on their impulses and are unrepentant.

Words are just words. Actions and attitudes are different.

Tak,

Would you treat your divorced kids the same way as the gay ones??

How is divorce in any way comparable to homosexuality?

Gaz, how do you feel about unconditional LOVE? Love is the strongest thing in the universe. A little love is greater than all the pride of the universe. A gay child who loves their parents after kicking them out of the house will enter the celestial kingdom before the parents who kicked them out because they failed to show love.

I stand by my statement that Gaz is excrement.
I think it would be morally right to lie about your religion to edit the article favorably.

Ugh. Not podcast material, in my opinion. You gotta UP the level of discourse, dude.

Loser.

I think that's fair.

Teen-aged children should be living within the rules the parents lay out. Once they are adults, and on their own, as parents, we have to trust them to make their own decisions.
