'Twasn't a lie. You have to have access to academic publications from your local University library in order to read such material.

What's the title of your master's thesis, how many pages in length is it, what is the date that it was accepted by your master's committee? What university awarded you a master's degree based on the thesis?

It's a lie Simon. There isn't an entry for a M.A. thesis written by "Simon Fuchs." The thesis doesn't exist.

So why are you doing this, Simon? This is another of your philosophy-themed threads. I'd really genuinely be interested to see you lay out a case for how this continual lying is justifiable within the context of LDS philosophy and morality. You up for it?

How do you have access to JSTOR?

I love philosophy, having dedicated a lot of time to the subject. Why it is surprising that I want to talk about it?

Well, Simon, Cassius U. gives me access to all kinds of electronic library resources, and so I can easily see that there is no entry for "Simon Fuchs" on JSTOR. (Plus, unless I'm mistaken, JSTOR doesn't archive Master's theses.)

You want to try and offer up yet another explanation?

Which part of philosophy justifies your lying, Simon?

There is no such place as "Cassius University." The game you're playing by lying about it is sick indeed.

I don't know whether my master's thesis is online anywhere -- I, of course, had mine bound at the preservation department.

Which part of philosophy justifies your lying, Simon?

Which part of your moral code allows you to lie about belonging to a nonexistent university?

No, you didn't, Simon. If you had done this, it would have a listing on U. Conn's HOMER. You're lying.

Something you don't have access to.

Interesting.

I wonder who is lying.

Uh, anybody can use HOMER on UConn's website, Simon. And as I've said: no listing for "Simon Fuchs." None. Zip. Nada. You've been caught lying yet again.

Scratch is right. Anyone can search for dissertations and theses via HOMER on the UConn website. I just did it now from my home computer. As for access to other academic search engines and databases, there are at least half a dozen posters at MDB who are working academics with access to all such resources.

An interesting thing about UConn, though, is that they have recently instituted a beautiful and highly accessible Digital Commons. Graduates are being encouraged to upload their master's theses and dissertations to the Commons and many, many have. There is one listing under "Fuchs": a Dana Lee Fuchs who in 2003 completed a dissertation on Native American Healing and Counseling.

Here is the information about how to submit a master's thesis to the Digital Commons.
