http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freedom_of_speech
Freedom of speech is the freedom to speak freely without censorship. The synonymous term freedom of expression is sometimes used to indicate not only freedom of verbal speech but any act of seeking, receiving and imparting information or ideas, regardless of the medium used. In practice, the right to freedom of speech is not absolute in any country and the right is commonly subject to limitations, such as on "hate speech".

The right to freedom of speech is recognized as a human right under Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and recognized in international human rights law in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR). The ICCPR recognizes the right to freedom of speech as "the right to hold opinions without interference. Everyone shall have the right to freedom of expression."[1][2] Furthermore freedom of speech is recognized in European, inter-American and African regional human rights law.

It is different from and not to be confused with the concept of freedom of thought.

Another option is to just let it be.

True, but a long time ago people were threatening to leave in droves if I didn't do something about it. Hence the three Forums you see today (four, if you count the Outer Darkness forum).

This is Nemesis' latest:

Simon, we are talking about a group of people who formed a “Neighborhood Watch” to monitor a thread.

Anyone else find this statement ironic since (Shades') whole board has been dedicated to monitoring this board, disparaging posters here and basically being a parasite of our content!

FYI the purpose of this section is not to monitor one thread but the whole board and documenting the attacks it stages.

Dear Nemesis:

Is there a difference between a "criticism" and an "attack?" If so, please explain how you separate one from the other.

Thank you.

Okay culture changed. When we getting the writing sub-forum (down below Off-Topic but above Get-Togethers preferably)?

I don't know. That's what the Off-Topic Forum is for.

Hey, Shades--

This writer's sub-forum is something that quite a few posters were interested in.

Yes, it is Off-Topic, but it would be really nice to have everyone's writing samples housed in one area, for those who wanted to participate.

Would there be any harm in creating it and seeing how active it is?

I agree. Lame. I've been away and never saw the thread in question, so I missed my chance to voice my opinion, so I'll do it now.

Lame.

Here's hoping the mods are overwhelmed and just declare, "f*** it."

Seriously, why do people give a crap what the other board thinks? It's an idiot bin over there. What difference do they make at all?

Okay, give me some time to get it done.

In the meantime, does anyone have any suggestions for what we should call it and what we should subtitle it?

I made the point that I was only going off of what people HERE thought, but then someone (café crema? Rambo?) made the excellent counterpoint that the people who gave me feedback are the ones who care what MD&D thinks.

What they think is important. We should not be intimidated by their chest-pounding. On the other hand, free and open discussion and a transparent board structure should attract them-- or at least those who are fed up with arbitrary moderator decisions and closed threads.
