Will had said something about taking a break from the boards for a while as a response to Kevin Graham's rebuttal to one of Will's theses. My response to this was "How telling." That's it. Got me kicked off the thread, and this after many, many character-assissinating posts from Will towards me and others. Those got only gentle, indirect rebukes from the mods. To which, I again say, "How telling."

I wrote them a strongly-worded note, to which I've received no reply as of yet.

They want to be a quasi-scholarly board for Mormonism, and at the same time protect Mormonism. It is no secret to anyone that their moderation is heavily slanted in favor of capable defenders. That they keep Will around with all his baggage is proof of that. It is refreshing to see them allowing Kevin to continue to post. There is no consistency on how and when they moderate and I think that is intentional or at least not something they really care about. They take that approach, I believe, so they do not have to explain each decision. Hopefully this will not deter you from continuing to post on other threads there, I enjoy your posts and you seem to be someone who can engage them at length without getting kicked immediately.

It is true they want to be a scholarly board, but not true they are focused on protecting Mormonism.
If you post content, are uplifting the boards intellectual "look", then you will be kept, LDS or not.

The above banning is an example of their intent. They are figuring if you don't have something of "substance" to say, you shouldn't be allowed to say anything at all.

Problem is, is we have not been told that this is the way they were moderating.
If we had known, I wouldn't have responded myself, and the above guy likely wouldn't have done the same. Just telling us to "lift the board" isn't good enough. You need to actually tell us you are going to ban us for simply a short non-substance statement.

What are we supposed to be MIND READERS...? It's completely wrong and unfair their actions.

Hey, thanks for saying that. I was making a conscious effort to not play Will's game and to stay focussed on content and substance. As a first-time "offender", you'd think that they'd give me a warning. In the interest of equity, it's the least they can do, seeing as how they give Will warning after warning, usually indirectly, and even go so far as to delete some of his more offensive language.

I was quite surprised, to be honest, since I never make inflammatory remarks, and try to stay on topic. I never thought it could happen to me!

Ah, if only there could be an hourly diagnosis or even a thumbs up-thumbs down indicator of which side of the bed they got up on that morning. Even then the capriciousness factor of MD&D mods would have to enter into the poster's decision making process.

The safest course would be to go with the herd. Say only safe faith promoting stuff and pretend you have a Ph.D. They admire that kind of stuff.

You'll probably be banned for writing the note to them. Their rules are that you cannot question them or their decisions. But it will take a few days for them to do their house-cleaning. Gosh, even God lets us question Him. I never received a reply either. They just banned me after a few days had gone by. I broke their rule but wrote them anyway because I was tired of their unfair moderating.

Good luck!!

I think that it went deeper than that. If you dared to disagree with their pet posters, their scholars' interpretations, or their financially contributing posters, it didn't matter if you were posting pro-Mormon or not.

Yep, would agree with that. If I was critical of Mike Reed or Consiglieri pointing out their positions how they were anti-mormon positions, the flawed logic etc., I was chastised for it. Even though I wasn't simply being critical of them, I was bringing sound analysis to the table of their actions and words.

Of course, I guess consig is now gone, so he became no longer a favorite.
