Would you prefer Joseph Smith?

"All sins and all blasphemies--every transgression that man may be guilty of--shall be forgiven in this world or the world to come, except [the eternal sin]....Hence, God has made a provision that the spirits of our friends and every spirit in that eternal world can be ferreted out and saved, unless he has committed that unpardonable sin.... God has wrought out salvation for all men, unless they have committed a certain sin."

"Salvation consists in the glory, authority, majesty, power and dominion which Jehovah possesses and in nothing else."
"In my more rebellious days I tried to doubt the existence of the sacred, but the universe kept dancing and life kept writing poetry across my life." ~ David N. Elkins, 1998, Beyond Religion, p. 81

And you and your ilk get to translate what it means for the rest of us. Nice gig you got there. You do realize, of course, that most of the world reads the same text and comes up with a completely different interpretation. I can't say that my interpretation is right, but I'm pretty confident that yours is wrong. You have made God in your own image, alas.

Show me a verse or passage that has an opposing meaning of interpretation apart from what the verse or passage says.

The Bible is full of passages that support universalism. I'll start with John 12:32. "But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me." He doesn't say some men, but all men. There really aren't any verses that say that God forecloses at death.

I suggest you read Tom Talbott's article for some thoughts on the matter:

I would also suggest this article:
http://www.tentmaker.org/articles/unive ... erose.html

In any event there are growing numbers of non-Mormon Christians who accept universalism based on the Bible alone so why should I trust your interpretation of the Bible?

Ah yes, so we all, in Heaven and in hell get new brains. So in other words we get a spiritual lobotomy.

And we become one total different personage.

OK, then I leave out the heaven. I am who I am (sounds familiar?), and I want to remain the same - or nothing.

It is from the King Follet sermon. The context doesn't change anything from what I can gather reading through the sermon.

I think the fact that the LDS Church spares no expense pursuing temple work for the entire human race in complete disregard of the standard of righteousness Jesus Christ commanded proves that those in charge are Universalists. I will have lots more to say about this. Holy Cow Man!
