Yep. He always seemed like the corporate butt-kissing type.

Dang, and I was going to go check on that brain abcess Schmo said I have but having it removed would cost me that much? I think I'll keep it.

Living among the spiritually powerful? Oh, please, give us a frickin' break. We're not stupid, and we know how things work the same as you do, Nehor. Pres Hinckley says he gets inspiration the same way everyone else does: via the still small voice. If he was talking face to face with Christ, that's not exactly the still small voice. And if anyone but the prophet is talking face to face with Christ and the prophet isn't, someone is lying. Christ wouldn't bypass the prophet to get to an apostle. Not gonna happen. Either you're saying Pres Hinckley is lying or someone is feeding you a line.

No, I just think that's the normal way the Prophet, Apostles, and everyone else receives revelation so he shared it as it is the most common.
Well, if the Prophet and Apostles are only getting the still small voice then he bypassed them to give me stuff beyond that. Maybe I should start a new Church that charges only 8% tithing to undersell them......hmmmmm.....nah, the whole going to hell thing kinda takes the fun out of that.
Harmony, with the least offense possible I want to say that I do not think you are stupid but I don't think you know the way things work the way I do.

What I know is how revelation works and how the keys to the priesthood works. Because you don't have the appropriate keys, You can only have revelation for your own life, period. You can't get revelation for the whole church. And that's doctrinal, not supposition or interpretation. The prophet is the only one who holds all the keys, and if he says he receives revelation the same way everyone else does, you have no business contradicting him.

Harmony is correct, Nehor. And, if you don't know this, then you need to go back to seminary.
I'm not discounting revelation that you have personally received. Neither is Harmony. We are all entitled to receive personal revelation from God for our own lives.
But only the prophet can receive revelation concerning the Church as a whole.
My question to Harmony is....Do you happen to know where a copy of that particular talk is where President Hinckley addressed the issue of how he received revelation? Did he say that his receiving revelation through the "still, small voice" was the only way he received revelation?

Out of interest here is an excerpt from an interview with Pres. Hinckley:
DR: But more than that, because you’re leader of the Church. Do you have a special connection? Gordon B. Hinckley: I have a special relationship in terms of the Church as an institution. Yes. DR: And you receive... Gordon B. Hinckley: For the entire Church DR: You receive? Gordon B. Hinckley: Now we don’t need a lot of continuing revelation. We have a great, basic reservoir of revelation. But if a problem arises, as it does occasionally, a vexatious thing with which we have to deal, we go to the Lord in prayer. We discuss it as a First Presidency and as a Council of the Twelve Apostles. We pray about it and then comes the whisperings of a still small voice. And we know the direction we should take and we proceed accordingly. DR: And this is a revelation? Gordon B. Hinckley: This is a revelation. DR: How often have you received such revelations? Gordon B. Hinckly: Oh, I don’t know. I feel satisfied that in some circumstances we’ve had such revelation. It’s a very sacred thing that we don’t like to talk about a lot. A very sacred thing.”
I suppose he's not willing to lay down the chips on which ones directly claimed to have these experiences. I have, through reliable second-hand sources, very good reason to believe none of them believe that they've ever seen Jesus.
Nehor, not to be a jerk or anything, but u ever been on any kind of medication, anti-depressents, anything like that?

Ummm.....when did he say that everyone would get revelation only by the still, small voice?
If he did, I better pack my bags. I know I can only get revelation for myself and for the keys and offices I hold. I didn't say I was getting more. I was only describing that what I get is not solely through the still, small voice. Some was a loud booming voice, visions, dreams, pure intelligence flowing into mind, etc. You better call my Bishop quick. I'm about to give a lesson on revelation and how it can be conveyed and I'm going to talk about all those in addition to the still, small voice. DUN DUN DUN......

I believe the term, "still small voice " came from BY. He was depressed at not receiving enlightenment in the form of personal visitations from Christ. Finally, he had a dream where Joseph spoke to him about how feeling the still small voice was indeed good enough to be called revelation.
The title, "Special witnesses of Jesus Christ", is just that - a title. It does not refer to an actual transpired event in which one has received the Second Comforter. It is tossed out there for members to speculate on. If ever asked about the subject, the "Special Witness" predictably engages in the coy dance of humility; "I could never kiss and tell". The member is then allowed to assume, purposefully without clarification, that all "Special Witnesses" have indeed seen Christ.
Is that about it in a nutshell?
