My daughter would like to pass the sacrament and was pretty disappointed when she was told that will not be possible. She cried.

The same could be said of the many women who are wearing burkas.
Such a distinction would have to all be in perception.
This is why many do not see it becuase they have been taught or conditioned to see something else.
I don't know many LDS men in the Church who see women as second class citizens.
See above. I think men even in say a extremist muslim group will see love their women.
and there are plenty of women who have authority over all the boys in class, for instance.
You will not find any women with any position in the church who does not have a man above them.
It I don't know any women, although I don't doubt that there are some, who would like to pass the sacrament. ain't nothing. its walking around with a tray of bread and water and making sure everyone has the chance to partake.
Most men do not want to pass it either, but the issue is not whetehr one wants to, but why one group cannot due to gender.
I guess I'd have to come back tot he question of authority over what?
Authority over Women for many things related to the church. Confessions have to be to a man. Church disclipine is done by the men. We could go on and on. Again this is not a problem with just the LDS church.

I hear you, Stemelbow. Does the Church really teach that it ain't nothing--or is that just your reading? So maybe the power of the Melchizedek Priesthood to anoint and heal and talk to God ain't nothing neither?
