I love this stuff. Here is Buffalo--the guy who is so upset that the Church uses guilt to make people feel bad--trying to use that against a believer who he doesn't like. What a goon. Sorry, Buff, but that is goonish behavior.
Did Daniel suggest the claim of an essay was alleged? Or was he a little more specific in his words?
Love ya tons, Stem
I ain't nuttin'. don't get all worked up on account of me.

Are you suggesting that the methods used by LDS leaders amount to goonish behavior? Goodness.

stemelbow wrote:Not really. At some point when the healthy eyed aren't willing to look, it get's old trying to show them. John suggested DCP was claiming any essay was alleged, and thought that was great. When in fact, it was clear, DCP was denying the claim of "hit piece" and "smear". I think you even pointed that out.
I really wanted to just drop it. He seems to. I do to. But you guys are persistent little poops.
There is no reason to suppose that John and I had to interpret Daniel in the same way. It is not as though Daniel was striving for clarity in the first place.
You just want this to end because it is your crusade to quash any criticism of apologetics. That's obvious.

Is Schryver just throwing out more BS, or has the MI changed it's mind? Or maybe he's just going to "publish" his stuff on his DCP's blog or something like that?
It's my understanding that the "Old School" MI Mopologists (Midgley, DCP, etc.) still support Schryver; that the new Editor, Greg Smith is a huge fan of Schryver's Book of Abraham work ("cast into Mt. Doom"); and that Smith's father-in-law, who If I recall correctly is former Area Authority Robert White, is also a big fan; and that White is a close associate of Boyd K. Packer, which means that there are influential forces in SLC that would like to see the pieces get published.

Oh, God, I hope so. It won't be up there with Dallin H. Oaks explaining how the Salamander Letter corroborates the truthfulness of the Church, but it will still be pretty good.
But as I have said many times, I won't be completely satisfied until Schryver's KEP/Book of Abraham theories are in the Ensign.
After reading that ugly thread, I feel like a nice hot shower to wash away the icky feelings. Yikes.
Although, I will say that Will Schryver's bitching about John not inviting him on Mormon Stories was very entertaining. Poor Will feels like he's been passed over, even though he is so important.

Original stem was an obfuscating and barely literate troll who couldn't put a sentence together and affected a phony "aw shucks" persona. But at least he posted only intermittently.
Stem 2.0 is a slightly more literate liar whose comments are getting increasingly vicious and duplicitous. And he can't let a post go by without a disingenuous disambiguation of what "we all" don't understand.
Either way the whole point of the Ignore function is vitiated if people keep quoting him in their replies. Please, people, go easy on the quote function!

I answered that thread the way the Church would with a few additions as to what's going on behind the scenes. Most in the Church leadership want to excommunicate John Dehlin, Harry Reid, and the like just as fast as possible. However, the brethren have said in effect "be patient" and the rest of us follow their lead despite our contrary opinions. That's because we know that we do not have the benefit of revelation/inspiration for the whole Church/World.

I am convinced that Bob has no morals or ethics. Bob has a true personality disorder. He only wants to hurt others and cause chaos. How he can call himself a good Mormon and faithful to its teachings is beyond me.
Sounds like a lawyer.
