It has always been so in matters of faith, people think that to assume they are in with God presumptuously is somehow counted for faith. It is not. Faith is to come to the door and knock. Remain steadfastly at the door until it opens. Not to lightly assume that you are already in the door and on the other side in stupid arrogance pretending to great things and embarrassing yourself before God and his holy angels.
Nightlion, if you are right and there is a long list of things one must do and/or become before one can be sure God is speaking to that one, then how can anyone be sure what that long list
is?
God doesn't have to reveal Himself to hypocrites who are talking to Him half-heartedly. That's not the group of people I'm talking about. I'm talking about people who are willing to base the whole rest of their lives on whatever God wants them to do. If God isn't willing to give an answer to one of
that group of people, should that one ask God a question, then how can anyone find out what the will of God is in the first place?
Never said anything about a long list. The entire purpose of the gospel is to get you to come unto Christ.................but not just for a riddled query. He wants you to bring it, as we say today. To bring your all with a broken heart and contrite spirit as a little child. That is not a long list but it is the proper attitude. Notice that there is no assumption in this attitude. A little child assumes nothing and even less will a broken heart and a contrite spirit assume the least thing. You bring yourself before the Lord as simply pure and charitable already as you can expecting to follow your faith in Christ into a conjoined experience with God where the gospel is realized.
Mormons tell themelves that the ordinances have got the gospel handled. No they do not.
In fact to receive the ordinance prematurely and go on to partake of the sacrament is the single greatest error that the Mother of Abominations administers. This puts everyone beyond the mark and is a shackled chain around their souls that will probably never be broken.
Send you mind down through the ages in scripture and recognize the similarities between all the first encounters man has with God. They are not simple questions answered. They are great events that transform lives and raise men up to a higher state of existence and a constant joy of the Lord abiding in new hearts which God has newly fashioned working great things upon the physical, spiritual, intellectual and eternal all of whom we need to become.
This is the conception of the children of God. it is what he yearns for and what Christ suffered to bring forth unto eternal life. Mormons do not put first things first. They have forever repudiated this very thing. And this is why there is no Zion and why prophets are not prophet and apostles are not real apostles and salvation is not happening. People are only filled with doubts and not certainty and knowledge that is expanding. There is not expansive learning whereby every man is taught of God. No trace of it in all LDS history. Joseph yeah, but then who, Parley P. Pratt, some but he was killed, Orson, his brother? Nay. He was not there. Brigham was not there like he should have been. Those who were slightly there never improved upon it. It is now one great horrific tragedy with more tragedy ahead.
The Lord accused the LDS of keeping only a gospel lite devotion and it was not acceptable. D&C 84:50-59. Because of adversity Mormons man up and add to their lite gospel a seriousness that is always stumblebutt dumb. Take no thought for your life but seek ye first the kingdom of God and his (not yours) righteousness, and enter the kingdom of God for real.
