This is interesting coming from a totalitarian leftist who peddles hoary Marxist-Leninist bromides and long discredited economic superstitions in public with a straight face, while spending extraordinary amounts of bandwidth crowing about how smart and educated he is, all to forestall any suspicion among any here that, after years of discourse and debate with him...he is not really particularly smart or well educated.

This is the same guy who thinks Egyptologists - sans two or three Mormon "experts" - don't know enough about the subject to speak informatively on the Book of Abraham.

Oh sure, they can speak authoritatively - to the degree modern Egyptology can speak authoritatively - on the Sensen text and associated documents. It cannot speak informatively on the Book of Abraham per se, however, for the simple reason that we do not have any of the original textual material from which it was derived for it to speak upon, and secondly, as a book of scripture, the translation we have within the Church and its actual contents and meaning are outside the purview of secular scholarship of this kind.

Payroll taxes are federal taxes, Ilsa. I never claimed to have paid "income" taxes, and if I did manage to say that somewhere, it was an oversight on my part.

That's what I thought. The taxes you paid did not go into the coffers that would have been used to fund the various assistance programs you needed. I'm betting you or your wife still receive some sort of aid today, most likely medical.

Huh? Are you lucid, Beastie? Federal payroll taxes go into the general fund. That's the general piggy bank that is part of the great pile of money in the sky that funded what was once called AFDC and food stamps. It also funds rent subsidies and things like WIC and other overlapping sub-programs (along with income taxes and all other forms of non-specific taxes).

The only thing I paid into that would not have gone to those programs I used would have been Social Security taxes. I was on medicaid as well, so I've been paying into that ever since that time, as well as all the other stuff in the great pile of money if Washington.

The thing is, of course, that I have no way to show that the exact dollars I've contributed in taxes in two decades were the specific dollars used to restock the piggy bank. Some of it may have gone to Solyndra, ethanol production, and Planned Parenthood. Of course, they don't have to be (its a piggy bank, after all, containing the booty taken from tens of millions of people). I've already shown in another post why the entire idea of "paying back" the government for the benefits I received is low moral and philosophical comedy. Little more need be said, especially as you've avoided the bulk of my arguments and points and opted, as usual, for personal smearing.
