Remember, the FBI has the alleged shooter’s rifle. They’ll compare some test rounds to the found casing and bullet (assuming it was recovered).

It's been a lazy afternoon of watching right-wing gun and ballistics guys delve deeper into the mire. I have to admit Joe Rogan made a good point that the fuzzy pic of "grandpas gun" doesn't look very ww2. Another channel had a convincing explanation for how a human body might absorb all that energy and not leave an impressive exist wound, what ballistics people call "temporary cavitation." There is evidence of this happening in one of the vids floating around. Leave it to left-wingers to explain it best seven years ago:

That point alone is a great example of why I'm wary about scientifically analyzing something like this, going beyond the circumstantial evidence and looking for a cause-by-cause explanation, because there is just so much about basic physics I don't know. This is very much like seeing a plane crash into a tower and the tower fall, and not being able to explain flame-by-flame, how the impact brought the tower down. Yeah, I had a hard time believing an 06 would do so little damage and then surprise, there is an actual scenario where that is exactly the case. And so the knock-down argument -- an 06 can blasts through a half inch of steel at 150 yards therefore it wasn't an 06 -- is overturned.

There is another theory where a guy got a clip of somebody laying prone on the roof "wearing body armor" and firing a gun that registered more like a .223. Well, why would an assassin need body armor and why risk drawing attention wearing it?

I'm still left believing the official narrative based on circumstance. You've got a guy recognized by the guy's dad on camera and there's a gun. The "school shooter" motive is believable. That probably settles it. I'm sure the field office is doing a decent job. The FBI corruption at the top will unlikely affect the boots on the ground at the local field office this early in the regime.

A non-conspiracy conspiracy-like theory I'm contemplating here that I haven't seen floated yet -- what if there were multiple unrelated shooters? One comment I keep seeing is that this outdoor amphitheater with all the surrounding roofs is an assassins dream scenario. It's definitely possible different people with different axes to grind all had the same idea. Maybe there was a second guy on the roof with a different gun and a different reason for being there?

Reducing every disagreement to race and moral failure. So what exactly is a “[r]acist sentiment” then? Is it hating people because of race? Or is it the compulsive need to see race everywhere, to explain every action, motive, or idea as racial whether it fits or not?

Such was the indignant entreaty by one of the board’s former (and future; give him a moment to come up with a new name again) members. But as someone I know has often said, “If only the racists didn’t work so hard to make the accusations true”.

Florida International University’s Turning Point USA chapter President Ian Valdes has stepped down from leadership, the school’s club announced on social media, after reporting revealed his involvement in a racist group chat among Miami campus conservatives.

The group chat, which has been widely condemned, included Valdes, the secretary of the Miami-Dade GOP and the former College Republicans recruitment chair.

Throughout the two and a half weeks of chat logs between September and October obtained by the Miami Herald — and verified by two people in the group — participants used variations of the n-word more than 400 times, regularly described women as “whores,” used slurs to talk about Jewish and gay people and mused about Hitler’s politics.

“The Turning Point USA chapter at Florida International University has been made aware of the recent incident involving chapter leadership. The chapter president has stepped down from leadership, turned over social media, and we are currently reconstituting our leadership team,” the organization posted on Instagram Saturday.

“Our chapter remains focused on fostering constructive conversation, supporting our members, and continuing our mission of engaging students in meaningful discussions,” the statement read.
