Joseph Smith got Bloody drunk to increase the "holy ghost". The 13 witnesses were four sheets to the wind when they were "witnessed by angels", a.k.a. country moonshine.

Do you ever provide proof for you wild ass comments?

Jason,

In this case, the "wild ass" comments are correct. When I get time, I'll dig up a reference for you.

My all-time favorite reference to Joseph Smith's drinking appears in the first volume of Quinn's Mormon Hierarchy: "Drank a glass of beer at Moissers." (cf. pg. 645) Smith was apparently fond of visiting this establishment, which Quinn describes as a "grog shop."

There is nothing wrong with alcohol, coffee or tea.

We have just been asked now-a-days to not have any.

If Joseph had some back then it really didn't matter, he wasn't under any law not to have any. didn't Noah have a vineyard and make wine of his own?

Gaz

P.S. Vegas when you die you can get shot out of a cannon the way your avatar did, only you should do it ass first so you can go out of life the way you went through it.

Mormons today are likewise under no law not to have any. So, last night's Heineken was a-ok. :-)

Wrong.

It is part of the temple recommend, and therefore a requirement. Actually its a baptismal covenant since I had to teach it on my mission. Its part of the Baptism interview.

Just repent of your Heineken. Tommorows another day.

Yep, it's part of the baptismal interview and the temple recommend interview, but it's not a law. You should be aware of the laws you covenant to keep. The Word of Wisdom is not one of them. The only one I repent of is the Corona I had a while back. It wasn't very good.

I had a fantastic latte today at an Argentine-fusion restaurant. Went perfectly with the chocolate cake with orange habanero sauce. Yummy!

A temple recommend is a good judge of celestial worthiness, as long as its an honest interview that is.

OK I'll give, a beer wont keep you out of the celestial kingdom, but disobedience will.

Oh, you've read LeGrand Richards, have you?

Here's the deal: the celestial kingdom doesn't exist, so nothing I do will keep me out or in. And the men who say I shouldn't have a beer do not speak for God.

I wasn't aware that God doesent ask you to do things.

The God I know asks you to do ever increaseingly difficult things in order to stretch you spiritually.

Not drinking alcohol is a very very basic request.
