I keep my house at 73 degrees, so its always like winter here.

Simply I can't this leave out:
(Kohn and Gruen are the two main hero of the jewish jokes)
Kohn:
- I'v seen a miracle yesterday!!!
Gruen:
- ? (imagine a movement with hands)
Kohn:
- Twas a big rain left to me, twas a big rain right to me and wasn't rain at me.
Gruen:
- Nothing. I'v seen a miracle last sabbath!
Kohn:
- ? (as above)
Gruen:
- There was a thick purse on the pavement. It was sabbath left to me, sabbath right to me, and it was friday for me.
(All work is forbidden at sabbath, for example to pick up anything)
- Whenever a poet or preacher, chief or wizard spouts gibberish, the human race spends centuries deciphering the message. - Umberto Eco
- To assert that the earth revolves around the sun is as erroneous as to claim that Jesus was not born of a virgin. - Cardinal Bellarmine at the trial of Galilei

Hi MormonMiss, you wrote:

Yeah, we do. Maybe a new prophet will come along who tells Mormons that they will be booted out of the church if they end up overweight. They seem to control everything else, so why not this as well. Mind you, with obesity being so prevalent in today's society, losing so many members because of it would be a financial disaster

OTOH, imagine IF all, OK some/a-lot, of the cash spent in the fat-loss biz was directed to:

"Magic Mormon Meals" THE program "With A Promise"!!

"Lose it here & now OR fry in it there for ever!"

To look absolutely DIVINE simply follow the INSPIRED directions of The Friendly Fathers.

To find out more, talk with any two of our thousands of roving, rambling "Young Ambassadors of Truth & Beauty". They are exemplary products of our program. Don't they look great!? You can too! Invite them in. You'll be glad you did! You'll feel better! Look better, AND You'll Live Forever Slim!

Golllly, I think LDSism might be missing THE opportunity of the ERA! Joel Osteen would be in real trouble if the masses wondered, "WHERE are all of these Beautiful People heading?" And of course, as folks are prone to do... Maybe we should call SLInc and make a presentation :-) Warm regards, Roger

Well, good job guys. Nice marketing plan you have going there, I must say! My university here is famous for its physics programs, engineering programs, transport economics programs, etc. The Max Plank Institute is here on campus, as well.

How do you feel this would go over with a physics student? specifically, the first two questions? I can imagine that the physics students could give the missionaries a few lessons on why the grass is green. I believe a lot of other students would have a real laugh with that question (Answer: because it is not Columbian Gold, Mexican brown, Thai Chocolate Brown, etc.? LOL)

I think they have their work cut out for themselves.

What think ye?

Explaining the science of why the grass is green (or why the sky is blue for that matter) does not answer the question of who (or what) got the ball rolling in the first place. But I do agree that such questions are not directed at physics students (I have such a degree myself, a minor to my engineering one).

However, there is no science that the LDS Church is in conflict with. Doctrinally, we embrace it.

It is good to hear from our German friends. My daughters recently spent time in Kassel on a student exchange program.

Hi BCSpace. Glad you dropped in.

You and I will always disagree on whether science conflicts with Mormon thought. I maintain it does, assuming one holds for an explanation of the atonement beyond the moral theory.

I believe you do. The Book of Mormon seems to, as well as most commentary from the prophets and apostles. But, I am happy to leave it at that with you.

I hope your daughters enjoyed this nice country.

Cheers.

Hi BCSpace. Glad you dropped in.

Well I'm just glad you saw my post after four pages.

I don't think science has come up with anything to contradict it. Thinking more along the lines of creation, even as we develop the various String theories to superceed and expand on Einstein, the question still and probably always will remain....What was before, what brought it into being?

I believe you do. The Book of Mormon seems to, as well as most commentary from the prophets and apostles. But, I am happy to leave it at that with you.

I'm glad you seem to understand.

I hope your daughters enjoyed this nice country.
Cheers.

They did, though girls being girls, they photographed more of the people and less of the scenery than I would have liked. Not that I minded seeing handsome and beautiful Germans though.......

One of them had stayed with us the year before so it was a direct exchange, family-to-family. I think they were flabbergasted about us having seven children (but we only sent them two).

Well, I hope some of the Germans in the pictures were smiling. But, often handsome and beautiful they are, indeed.

I'm sure your daughters can find Germany on a map? My girlfriend once had such an exchange with an American gal and she couldn't find Germany on the map, while she was sitting in their kitchen in Munich. Funny stuff!

That was probably one of my students, gramps! I just about pitched a fit the day I discoverd none of them could find ENGLAND on a map.

It's really pathetic, isn't it?

Although when I was younger, I'm not sure I would have been any better. Although I could definitely find England. Ireland...., now that's a different question altogether.

How embarrasing. Some students here can't even find 'Rand McNally' on a map.

My girls are very smart though and can indeed find Germany on the map. My ancestry (after WWII) is Norwegian.
