Can anyone tell me how the "birthers" are any different than the people who continued to complain about the unusual manner in which Bush beat Gore? Especially the ones that continued to complain (non-sensically) after the 2004 elections?

Provide the birth certificate and I'll be satisfied. For that matter, Obama taught at the UC law school post 1986. He would have been required to provide proof of residency which of course is not as strict as the proof required of natural born citizens. If he provided proof then, why doesn't he now. Why do his supporters point to a document which does not prove the point at issue?

That's an interesting perspective which has been discussed among conservatives. I hadn't participated in this discussion until now because I thought the courts would duck the issue as they have.

My father's impression when he testified before Congress in the 1970s was that they were a bunch of self important lawyers. That's our president. He's very impressed with himself but knows little (thinking that Hirohito was at the Japanese surrender is just the latest example of his ignorance). He clearly knows little or nothing about economics.

If HC and JM were unable to use that information to their advantage last year, it will be even less relevant after Obama has been in office for 4 years (including the supposed issue of where he was born).

The HC/JM argument is bogus. To be sure they would've used it to their advantage, but it's apparent that their political machines, especially HC's, aren't as good as some think. They simply rolled over when answers were given that didn't actually address the question. For example, they didn't seem to know about the long form and the conditions under which it could've been issued.

Update, Nov. 1: The director of Hawaii’s Department of Health confirmed Oct. 31 that Obama was born in Honolulu.

An old chestnut that the HC machine fell for. As shown before, none of those actually answers the question as to what his orignal bc says. All they do is deflect the question by saying "we won't tell you or confirm what it says, but trust us."

by the way, the hosptial has gone back on it's statements and won't confirm whether or not they apply to the long form or the short form nor will they confirm that the photocopy of the short form matches the original.
