Ironically Named Mormon Dialogue Board Declares War on MDB

OK, I've never been to a meme generator and am not inclined to go for a visit.

Regardless of how offensive, mean spirited, vile, and nasty a poster is, ridiculing or joking about abuse is seriously crossing the line. I hope whoever is responsible removes the material.

Having said this...

First, how in the world is Dr. Shades responsible for something a couple of guys post on another board? This is crazy!

Secondly, anyone who reads this board for more than five minutes knows that the vast majority of posters, (say, about 95%), have high standards when it comes to posting. There are a couple of guys who cross the line but typically they are called out quickly, and often remove the offending stuff.

Finally, what is it with this over the top response to an issue? Did anyone ever hear of politely asking for offensive stuff, (not sure what... a link? thread? post?), to be removed?

Again, I am certain that whatever went down is the antics of a few, and does not represent the posters on this board!

So, please, whoever posted cruel stuff, take it down!

asbestosman, there is a hell of a big difference between quoting the stupid crap people write and publish of their own free will and posting disgustingly pornographic, offensive, and hurtful captions on the picture of a woman who in no way deserves such nasty treatment.

And could it be anyone? Hell yes. It could be anyone registered here or there or both places, in fact. If you think the world is free of sneaky assholes who would punch a supposed friend in the back, especially if that friend would likely blame it on a mutual enemy, then your imagination is seriously failing you. But does that matter when, more to the point, it is ridiculous to expect Dr. Shades or all of the members of this board to be accountable for what people anonymously do off board?

Give me a break! This place is so open that even SGW was able to register here after he shut the board down for a day with his frivolous DMCA claim crap! Now the geniuses at MDD have decided that Dr. Shades or any random one of us can be held responsible for anything that anyone who is registered here might do off board? Even when a number of people are registered on both boards?

What kind of McCarthyite stupidity is this? In the immortal words of Simon Belmont, those people need to Chillax.

Chris really, you want to make excuses for them and the culture of that board. Go back over there and you can stay over there if you are going to act like nothing is wrong with that board.

And he will always be welcome. Not only that, but he will always find it a more welcoming environment than that false utopia of discussion boards, MDD. It all appears pleasant until you step a little out of line, and you never quite know where that line is until they punt your ass. Of course, that line may change the very next moment.

Hell, I actually went over and looked at their thread. Saw this ironic post from Nemesis:

That board has tried to destroy 2 people in less then a week. When will it stop? When will the emails stop to family members of people they find on Facebook? These are the things we are talking about and this is what they are harboring. If the shoe was on the other foot, why would they cry foul and sue?

That is exactly what happened to me. My wife got threatening emails from one or more of their posters. Did I blame MAD/MDD? No. Did I threaten to sue? No.

What was said about Juliann was disgusting, and adding Calmoriah to it was even worse. For the record, Calmoriah has been kind and compassionate to me over the years and has slammed me only when I needed slamming.

Whoever did it was wrong and should both remove the disgusting posts and apologize. But it's stupid and unhelpful for Nemesis/Dan_G/Juliann to use the off-board actions of a few (suspected) MDB posters to settle some scores against the board as a whole.

The simple fact that I was aware of some of this and didn't condemn it proves that I am a hypocrite here when I am willing to condemn Will's behavior. Trying to shift the blame is a distraction tactic. All that matters is whether I have double-standard. I do. Is everyone here as culpable as me? No. I really don't care who knew about this and didn't condemn it but did condemn Will. That's for each person to reflect on individually. I behaved badly, and these Mormon message boards probably aren't helping.

Well, I don't see what all of this hand-wringing about your supposed "hypocrisy" is good for, no offense. You are a hypocrite if you go over to MDD and tell Juliann not to "worry her pretty little head" about the memes, and warn her to "go back into the kitchen and make you a batch of cookies." The idea that you are a hypocrite if you don't condemn every last piece of bad behavior on both sides with equal vehemence is stupid. You know that what really is at issue here is not your purported "hypocrisy," but their sense of your loyalty to them or lack thereof. This is the tribe beating you back into line, pure and simple.

Dr. Shades rarely ever participates on this forum, and he is not responsible for the actions of anyone here, especially the actions that take place off the forum. And we're still only assuming it was a non-LDS poster on this forum who is responsible. There have been LDS posing as antis and antis posing as LDS on these forums for years. If I had to guess, I would say it is probably Polygamy Porter, Eric or maybe Dr Cam, but I'm not ruling out the possibility that it is SGW. Shades has not yelled "fire" but if anyone could be described as such, it would be the LDS apologist SeattleGhostWriter, who just a few days ago threatened legal action and had the forum shut down for 48 hours when a simple email to the mods could have resolved his concern. Even when he got what he wanted, he continued to hang around and taunt us with more threats, and even ran over to MAD to gloat about his victory over the apostates. We dismissed him as irrelevant and it seemed to piss him off. This cat is freaking WEIRD, and I can't help but see an amazing coincidence here, between his creepy emergence on the scene and his persistent need to start a board war. It just seems like something he would do, since it is consistent with that same goal and it also helps him get more attention and support from his peers at MAD/FAIR.

The remainder, I almost don't have words to express my reaction. They are dehumanizing and the product of a sick juvenile mind. The sexual, domestic violence and family references go far beyond the pale and it personally sickens me to think that I share board space with the individual(s) who created those disgusting "expressions".

If links to these were posted on this board, I would like to see them removed and further, I would like to see the creators of these "memes" come forward and ultimately take them down if that is at all possible. I don't know how these things work.

I do know how cowards function and this is the work of base cowards.

This is disgraceful behavior. We need to cut all links to that meme site, or at least drown it out with harmless caption replacements. I really can't believe that any self-respecting person would pull that crap.
