Re: The Official "Ban Joseph?" Poll
I suspect that any attention is a reward.
Where I work, we have a lot of contact with high profile people, and so about a month ago we received what I call "stalker training". :) I recommend the book "The Gift Of Fear", by Gavin de Becker. It isn't a fear-mongering type of writing, but offers practical advise.

BAN him!
Ban that turdzilla so hard that his grandma won't be able to log on to Facebook for a month.
Didn't we have a poster here offer free legal services to Shades in the event of a lawsuit resulting from Joseph's BS? Take him up on it, if necessary.
Even if we must keep images disabled, Joseph should still be banned.
If Simon pulls any more of his I-can-discover-everyone's-IRL-identity-with-my-computer-hacking-skills, then he should thrown out on his ass, too.

I'm just trying to find a way to keep Joseph out of the loop of what's going on here. Maybe it would be enough to require registration to view pictures, should they ever return.

EAllusion wrote:Hotlinking images webhosted on other forums to make points is not a copyright violation, even under the overly broad DCMA. It is fair use. Thousands of forums, including plenty much bigger and much more influential than this one, allow posting of images just the same as here because of this fact. You don't think someone would've succeeded in hitting 4chan if this wasn't the case? They have over 9000 enemies. I understand Shades not wanting to engage a frivolous lawsuit, but hopefully there are enough human resources behind him that the person posting under the name Joseph can be hit back hard if he wants to make dubious DCMA claims.

I wonder which, in the long run, will decrease activity more...the loss of image usage, or allowing registered users to read posts? It might be an interesting experiment.
I say, that, in lieu of not having images, we get our smileys back.

Re: The Official "Ban Joseph?" Poll
It is ridiculous that one pathetic little Barney Fife with a hunger for power probably unreachable in his real life managed to do this.
There must be some way to not only ban him but keep him away from this board.
Would requiring that one be registered to see images work, as was previously suggested? That way Barney would not be able to see images and pull out his water gun.

I manage another website using Php, but it uses version 2.0. I believe that Shades is using version 3.0, so there may be some differences. On my admin panel on my site, there is an option for allowing viewing, but nothing as specific in whether or not you can view images. Now, an interesting feature on the panel, is that you can go through forum by forum. So, you could probably limit viewing to everyone on specific forums, based on whether or not they were registered. So, for example, Shades could create an option where only registered members could view the Terrestrial Forum. However, again, it is an "all or nothing" venture. There is no specific option for images alone.

4. BAN JOSEPH.
5. Block Joseph's IP address and immediately ban and block any sock-puppet who pops up and starts smelling like Barney Fife.
These three simple steps would solve all of our problems.
by the way, are any exmormon internet boards Joseph-Free, or has he infected all of them?
You should PM liz...

Re: The Official "Ban Joseph?" Poll
After considering posts from beastie, Liz and KA, and given the fact Jersey Girl just got banned from this board for posting Joseph's bullyng PM, I have decided to change my vote.
Ban Joseph now.

It seems reasonable to hope that we may soon hear a word from Shades telling us fairly explicitly what he thinks of this situation - or at least telling us that he is trying to do something about it that he does not want to talk about at the moment.

Re: The Official "Ban Joseph?" Poll
The great part about this is that a single slow witted neckbeard could rock this forum. I would have guessed some kind of apologist would be the one to do it, not Joseph.
