Fine...then prudence causes me to tune out your posts. All the best to you.

Wade Englund visits MDB to save those humble enough to receive his teaching:

Zadok:
I did not have a faith crisis. I discovered that the Church was having a truth crisis.
Maksutov:
That's the problem with this supernatural stuff, it doesn't really solve anything. It's a placeholder for ignorance.

Wade:

How will humility solve the problems associated with, say, the Book of Abraham?

FYI--I wont be respond again here until I see that Kevin has checked in and declared his interest or disinterest.

May I suggest, then, that those intent on discussing me and what I may or may not have done in the distant past or may or may not be able to do now, or anything else about me that they find of interest to discuss here, that you go to the thread started by Darth J that is specifically about me and intended to help me. Darth could use the help in getting his thread past page one.

Thanks, -Wade Englund-

I have an even better idea, Wade.

Why don't you come help out on my thread? Because on my thread, I'm not interested in talking about you. I'm interested in your substantive answers.

I bet he did just well for many years if not decades. I did for decades. What changed is learning what I had faith in was not in reality true. This is probably what Kevin is really lamenting is that the church is not really true, and we would have liked that it was true. It is beyond your power to change reality, so we are left with dealing with the fact the church is not what it claims. Even though I can recognize this, I am still perfectly happy with life, and can enjoy better fantasy, but I hope you are happy with your fantasy.

As one who experienced a crisis of faith and deicded to stay a member of the Church, I would suggest to Kevin, or anyone, this particular essay by John Dehlin:

http://staylds.com/docs/HowToStay.html

This essay really assisted me in finding some peace with portions of the Church tenets which I could not reconcile, but still worship Jesus Christ, and maintain, not only my Church membership, but my temple recommend as well.

Wade, this thread is a bit long on personal complaints. Sorry. But people are a bit uncomfortable with your overture. Perhaps it is because it appears you are so sure of what faith is. Some views of faith might include having the confidence in Gods trustworthiness to be able to investigate evidence and ask the questions that evidence suggests. That kind of faith could include changing beliefs as as act of faith. An inablity to change would be a lack of faith. I suppose that sort of thing could go a variety of ways. Theoretically it could even include changing from unbelief to believing Joseph Smith. If there was reason to.

In short, wait patiently until Kevin weighs in and we see where things go from there.

Thanks, -Wade Englund-

I meant what I said about only wishing to help Kevin, or anyone else for that matter, with their unbelief.

You didn't caveat that in any sort of order of precedence. I'm disappointed that you would show up with prevarications and false promises. I took you at your word, Wade.
