I don't care what they tell a pollster, there ain't no way on God's green earth they are going in that booth and pulling the lever for a Mormon. They believe Mormonism is inspired of Satan, for cripe's sake.

But both Clinton and Obama have similar problems. I believe the numbers for both are inflated because there are a lot of people who, even though they wouldn't admit it to a pollster, won't vote for a woman or an African-American.

poll performed after romney's speech says it didn't make any difference nationally

Caution #2: People tend to say what's socially acceptable when there's a pollster at the other end of the line. So pollsters ask trick questions designed to reveal prejudices voters might not want to reveal. A CBS-New York Times poll also released today did that with the Mormon question. Sure enough, 41% of those questioned said they thought most people THEY KNEW would NOT vote for a Mormon candidate. The same question got basically the same response in June.

How do you account for the myriad of endorsement Romney has received from evangelical leaders?

If you want to hear my unvarnished, cynical, opinion, it's because the leaders are opportunists who decided that Romney looked good (physically as well as politically, compared to Guilliani).

But their followers are not going to soon forget how often they've been told that Mormonism is of satan.

You know I see Huckabee in these interviews and nobody asks him the million dollar question:

If Romney wins the nomination, would you support and vote for him?

If he says yes, which we all know he would, then this would be devastating for the Evangelical community that rejects Romney. Because then you'd have a Baptist Minister in high standing saying he would vote for a Mormon, and that he sees nothing wrong with a Mormon being President.

I'm surprised Glenn Beck didn't ask him this the other night.

Any why doesn't Glenn mention the fact that he is Mormon? I see him talking about the controversy over Romney's Mormonism, but I never hear him admit he is LDS too. It kinda throws a bias factor in the equation if you think about it.

I think if the choice is between a Mormon and Hillary or a Mormon and a Muslim, the EV's will choose the lesser of two evils.
