Of course, one has to believe that these things actually happened. The evidence that they did is not so good.

Unwittingly telling something that is not a fact is not a lie. It is an error of fact. If you have evidence to present that shows he is deliberately twisting the truth, I am open to it.

According to the dictionary it is. I'm on solid ground here, and I make no apologies for my use of the word.

"Dart" is not even an amateur apologist, let alone a religious scholar. He gets his information from the same place I do, other subject matter experts.

"Dart" never once claimed or pretended to be a "religious scholar." GoodK is again demonstrating his immaturity by trying to derail on every type of attack method in the book. He simply cannot deal with the fact that his buddy Bill Maher made a fool of himself. He can't stand it. And apparently I'm not allowed to point out a direct quotation from Maher because GoodK knows that Maher didn't really mean what he said.

Moreover, I hardly get my information from the same place GoodK does. I actually read books. I've not used Tektonics or whatever else he thinks I've quoted and I certainly haven't passed other's "education" off as my own.

By contrast, GoodK has links to cheesy articles and youtube clips from every anti-religion non-scholar to ever bloviate his viewpoint. But as he admitted, he may be stupid, but at least he's a stupid rich kid.
His expertise is in what, again?

Not child abuse. I don't need to pick on punks to feel smarter. In fact it has the opposite effect. Trying to discuss anything with you has a numbing and dumbing effect on the minds around you.
And of course wealth = score. Is there a problem with that?

Just the fact that it is about the dumbest thing anyone dared say on this forum in months. We know you don't have a problem with it because, well, you're the idiot who said it.
The same person that whined like a little girl - no offense, ladies - about how his life was supposedly threatened by Mercury on this message board. The internet bully that turned out to be a little ninny cry baby with frilly panties.

On the contrary, I told mercury that if he felt the need to threaten my life, he should be man enough to do it face to face. I don't know too many scared ladies who would do that.

And its funny how his threat to shoot me in the head wasn't what sparked any ire on this forum, but rather it was my reiteration of the fact that he made a death threat.
The same person who uses insults like "idiot" and "moron" more than anyone else on this board -- from the safety of the milk crate he has propped up in front of his computer at an undisclosed, meek location

Yes, because unlike myself, everyone else here provides their exact location before posting. Are you pretending you have the balls to come visit me if you knew my location? Who do you think you're kidding?
I've said it before. Kevin is a phony.

A phony what? I never claimed to be all that you're saying I'm not, and the subject is Maher's false statements, not me.

You're acting like an pedantic fool because all I did was challenge a statement made by Bill Maher and you've felt the need to defend him to the death when it is painfully clear I am right. Now you're left with this pathetic attempt to change what was said by saying Maher didn't mean what I said he means, even though that is precisely what Maher said. Yes, rich or poor, you're still a moron.
Did I forget anything?

Plenty. You forgot to name the egyptologists who support your BS. You said you could name them. Now you're proving that was just a bluff.

Of course I already knew this, as did the rest of us.

What the flippin' hell is that, Scottie? Shouldn't you appear remotely neutral when admitting that you're editing posts from within as a moderator?

Why do you have to clean up anything in these posts when there's a censor mode?

Did you note your editing from within in the posts you changed? I didn't see any remarks to that effect.

What the hell?

Scottie,

I withdraw these remarks and apologize.

Umm...nothing big. The censor doesn't pick up horses***. I have been editing a LOT of those. And, I don't need to leave a message when editing a swear word. Especially when I have 20 or so to edit out!!

It also apparently doesn't pick up f***ed up.

Did you see the apology I posted to you above? Why do you say "calm down" to me, Scottie? What horse crap. ;-) You apparently don't know anyone from the East Coast do you? You need to get out of Utah or wherever you're at because you consistently misread me. I can't help it if the censor mode is too screwed up ;-) to edit out the word screwed up.;-)

Again, I offered you an apology just above.

Jersey Girl

p.s. horse crap. ;-)

Editing: It edited out both words in the above post. Watchu talkin' about, huh?

I actually saw the swear words that the censor didn't pick up earlier today. I had a real life situation to take care of, and I didn't have time to fix it, or even PM you or Shades, so, thanks for taking the time to fix all of those. It was a REALLY tedious job!!! *HUGS*

I think that Jersey Girl was confused because you made your "speaking as a man" comments in the same post as your Moderator post, so at first glance, it looks like there might have been some bias.

I knew there wasn't, and I know YOU well enough to know that you would never do that.

I usually try to do two separate posts when I'm Mod'ing and "speaking as a man" just to avoid confusion. I kind of made it my "rule of thumb" after Infymus suggested something similar with me.

Kevin,

Assuming you think Christianity did not evolve from pagan myths known prior to Christianity and did not share many if any similarities in various pagan stories, can you please give me a scholar or scholars you respect who argues/argue this point of view.

With regards to Bill Maher in that interview which I watched on the net he had 4 women interrupting and talking over him barely giving him a chance to talk. He made a mistake saying Horus is an exact same story as Jesus. He may have meant that Jesus is a compilation of various pagan myths going back 1,000 years. And I say that because he also mentions Mythra a Persian God and Krishna an Indian God. Why mention other God-myth stories if he thinks Horus is the only story exactly the same. It would be easy to make a mistake in a live interview with 4 people coming at you with questions and interrupting. But even if he thought Horus was the exact same story it is a minor issue to the over-all issue he argues being the irrationality of religion.

The reason I'm asking you for your scholar sources is because I don't trust you to be intellectually honest and the sources (web-sites) that you obviously use I doubt are intellectually honest as well. Just looking at this thread one can see how intellectually dishonest you are when you resort to calling Maher a liar rather than acknowledging he may be uninformed. And when it is pointed out to you that Maher may be misinformed not deliberately lying you refuse to acknowledge there is a difference. We all know that Maher is not a scholar on ancient myths, that he is an entertainer hence in this particular area you are focused on it is very easy to be misinformed. And even if YOU think you aren't misinformed because I appreciate you rely heavily on Christian apologist sites there is a good chance you are. So what scholars have you relied on, which books, etc to support your position that the Jesus story has little taken from pagan myth stories?

No - what is funny is how seriously you expected everyone to take you while you tried to convince people your life had been threatened.

Cover your ears ladies -- Pussy.

You are probably -- cover your ears ladies -- one of the biggest pussy's I've ever encountered, and well, never-mind.

Are you pretending you have the balls to come visit me if you knew my location? Who do you think you're kidding?

Oh man... here we go with the internet tough guy stuff again. My balls have nothing to do with you or this. Please.

Kevin, I don't doubt for a moment that you are the menstrual milquetoast you proved to be during the Mercury death threat debacle.

I wouldn't "come visit" you because I don't like you and I have no desire to see whatever dump you inhabit. I also am not such a damned enormous -- cover your ears ladies -- pussy -- that I need to pretend to pick fights on the internet. I hope you go brag to your wife tonight about how you punked(2) someone on-line.

What a joke you are. This has been an epic meltdown for you. This truly is a watershed moment in Mopologetics.

Just the fact that it is about the dumbest thing anyone dared say on this forum in months. We know you don't have a problem with it because, well, you're the idiot who said it.

I can't take credit for it. Actually, Adam Carolla says it. It's true as far as I am concerned. I can see why you have a problem with a statement like that. I forgot that your treasure is in heaven. Do you have one of those bumper stickers on your mini-van?

You forgot to name the egyptologists who support your BS.

What BS? That there are parallels between the Jesus myth and the Horus myth? You are really going to continue to pretend that there aren't? Whatever happened to religious scholars? You stopped including religious scholars in your criteria all of sudden. I pointed this out to you already.

I've not used Tektonics

LMFAO!!!

You use tektonics.org ALL the time. You just haven't used it recently, because of news busters and your obsession with Sarah Palin. You just linked to a thread where you referenced tektonics! Stop dude... just stop. You are killing me. Phony.

You're acting like an pedantic fool because all I did was challenge a statement made by Bill Maher

That's all?

You consistently insult people. You attempted to insult me, until you had enough and decided moaning about pedantics and derailing was better. That's what I was doing. Giving you a much needed taste of your own medicine. It really has been entertaining.

but at least he's a stupid rich kid.

Should I be surprised that you still don't get it?

Check the score if you care to see who is stupid between the two of us.

Of course you've already demonstrated that Christian's don't really care about facts or the truth.

and you've felt the need to defend him to the death when it is painfully clear I am right.

It's painfully clear that you are right?! Be honest - do you laugh when you write that stuff?

A phony what?

Phony baloney.

You know what.

Bottom line: the Jesus myth is not unique. It has parallels with Egyptian myths as well as other pre-Christian superstitions.

And Kevin is a - cover your ears ladies - pussy.

Maher said the Christ story and the Horus story were "exactly" the same

Don't forget he also misspoke and said Jesus-god was born on September 25th. However, he did get the 25th of December being fixed as Jesus-god's birthdate in the year 349 AD correct.

So. I don't think he's an idiot, or uninformed. He, like most of us, has an opinion and has a casual education on religio-historical matters.

All right, back to your assertion. You are correct. He did say that, and it is not the truth. Period. Can't get around it.

... and he went on to say Horus resurrected a man named Lazarus as well.

He also said that, and it's not the truth. Just looking at the Internet really quick one finds that Horus raised is dad from the dead. His papa is named Osirus. So that's that.

Here's an interesting template someone put together (you'll have to scroll down a bit):

http://www.religioustolerance.org/chr_jcpa5.htm

Here's a Christian's response:

http://www.kingdavid8.com/Copycat/JesusHorus.html

And back at religious tolerance there's another link reference the common mythology of the Jesus-god and Chrisitanity:
