"If a proposition is obviously, indisputably false, those who continue to defend it must necessarily be either self-deluded, incompetent, or dishonest." - Daniel C. Peterson

Yes, his hypocrisy is evident in so many ways.

What he said above is precisely the reasoning used for calling Stowell dishonest. It is precisely the reason people like John Taylor and John Gee are dishonest.

John Gee writes that Quinn "has made a most unfortunate choice in the term magic, which he then defines in a deceptive, unhistorical, and fundamentally dishonest way."

Oh, how ironic.

And I loved this one by Stephen Robinson, who attacks Signature Books:

"I suppose by now it is clear that I did not like this book. I did not like it primarily because it is dishonest. It is dishonest to pass off the religion of the scholars as the Church of Jesus Christ. It is dishonest to pass off Protestantism in Mormon dress as the religion restored through Joseph Smith. It is dishonest to pass off a rejection and a denial of that religion as merely a "reinterpretation." It is dishonest to pass off ex-Latter-day Saints, non-Latter-day Saints, Reorganized Latter-day Saints, disaffected Latter-day Saints, and hard-core anti-Latter-day Saints as "Mormon" essayists. Give me a Walter Martin anytime, a good stout wolf with his own fur on, instead of those more timid or sly parading around in their ridiculous fleeces with their teeth and tails hanging out."

And this one by Daniel Peterson:

"Dr. Ankerberg and Dr. Dr. Weldon are upset about my "sarcastic and invective [sic] portrayal of this book as 'bigoted, intolerant, ugly, incompetent and dishonest' (p. 451). I must apologize. I did not mean to seem sarcastic. To set the record straight, let me define, as clearly and precisely and dispassionately as I am able to do, my serious, considered opinion of the book, even after its change of title and after the cosmetic alterations Dr. Ankerberg and Dr. Dr. Weldon have made to small portions of its text: It is bigoted, intolerant, ugly, incompetent, an dishonest."

And a few others from Dan's primary publication venue:

"A Deliberate Deception. Contrary to the publisher's claims, the book is not new." - John Gee

"Metcalfe has practiced a transparent deception on the readers of Dialogue, a deception the editors had a responsibility to correct" - Alan Goff

"Leaving the Saints is a frustrating book. It is also a dishonest book" - Gregory Taggert

Of course, this is just the tip of the iceberg of the well-poisoning that goes on at the Maxwell Institute. These citations prove beyond dispute that Dan Peterson doesn't really have a problem calling people dishonest. What really bothers him is when those people turn out to be his friends or religious icons.

LOL!

Not sure if this is directed at Kevin or Daniel.

Will you have fries with your oxymoron, sir?

As they say ...

An oxymoron is a figure of speech combining terms that are usually contradictory of one another. Some examples are: jumbo shrimp / extremely average /same difference /living dead /bad health / calculated risk/ wise fool / cruel to be kind / the sound of silence ~ deafening silence / open secret
Zadok:
I did not have a faith crisis. I discovered that the Church was having a truth crisis.
Maksutov:
That's the problem with this supernatural stuff, it doesn't really solve anything. It's a placeholder for ignorance.
