Tax exempt status for atheist groups

Post by _The Dude »

Religious types are always telling us that atheism is just another religion with its own set of faith-based beliefs. LOL...
So does anyone know of any atheist group that has tax exempt status in the US? Every religion has it, even the Scientologists manage to swing it from time to time. So what about the atheists?

Just wondering.

Dude,

If you consider The Brights to be an atheist org, then yes, I do believe they have tax exempt status.

I wish I knew what faith based beliefs I held.

Gosh, I sure wish someone would send me a pamphlet and fill me in!

It's a charity, not a religion.

I applied for tax-exempt status for The Church of the Giant F*****g Invisible Intangible Spider In My Backyard, but I was missing 2 or 3 of the requirements. My Bible is only half-finished, and I haven't kept very good records of my ordinations.

I had some cards made.

Keene Maverick:
Head of IT: Covert Mind LLC.
Priest, Pope, and Prophet: The Church of
The Giant F*****g Invisible Intangible Spider
In my Backyard

But my business partner never let me hand them out. :(
