I'm pretty much toast here. Since I saw Jesus Christ a couple times in my life, I cannot really deny that there is a God. I once tried to justify things and began to deny what I knew so I could excuse my departure from the Church at one point in my life when things were really rough. I tried to find something wrong with me medically and mentally so that I could use that as an excuse for the visions. The doctors could not find anything wrong with me so that excuse went out the window, CT Scans and the like notwithstanding. Knowing what I know, and knowing that one can find out the truth of all things by the influence of the Spirit of God, I'd say that Moroni 10:3-5 is pretty much right on the money.
Of course this is too sacred an experience to share the details with us...pearls before swine and all that...which I will never understand, but that's a different subject altogether.
For the TBM's here, and LoaP since he hates to be called a TBM, what do you think of this? Do you believe he really saw Jesus?

No idea, he could have.

When did the pearls before swine thing start? Joseph Smith told people all about his first vision, and Moroni visits, in great detail. In fact he blabbed so much about it to so many different people he couldn't keep all his facts straight.

I don't have any problem believing that he thinks he saw Jesus or Hammer saw Joseph Smith or whatever.
Did they really see them as I see this keyboard before me awake and not dreaming? I would say probably not. But I do think it interesting that they profess to.

Uhhhhh....the Prophet is the Revelator.....when told to he shares these things. From everything I've read it seems Joseph didn't talk much about the First Vision as much as the Moroni visitation. Early missionary efforts focussed on teaching the Book of Mormon and the angel Moroni's visitation.

Looks like we're left with the same proplem of every Mormon who has claimed to see a resurrected being, was it a dream? A vision? Or just as Blixa sees her keyboard?

I realize you kind of think of yourself as a sage and all, and one of the things that sages do is speak in koans, thinking they hold the key wisdoms and insights that unlock a secret consistency that is out of the grasp of the rest of us. But, well, your fantasy self is not your real self. Let's leave it at that.

I saw Jesus every Sunday when I was attending church. Do those Del Parson paintings count?
PS: Is this what Jesus looks like to those who claim to have seen him? Does he have his shirt partially unlaced to show his chest hair? I'm just being a dick now...I'll stop.

I believe that he believes he saw Jesus. I have no reason to think that he is lying; and a few reasons to think he is a truthful fellow (who will hopefully leave me his library in his will).
