whats wrong with a little wine?
Joseph Smith had wine in jail. Jesus changed water into wine not wine into water. The first sacrament was with wine. What's with the Utah church and it's issue with wine. Would someone who drinks a small glass of wine each night be denied a temple recommend.

We might live a little longer with that wine, but as a friend emailed me today:
Will I live to be 85?
I recently picked a new primary care doctor. After
two visits and exhaustive lab tests, he said I was doing "fairly
well" for my age.
A little concerned about that comment, I couldn't
resist asking him, "Do you think I'll live to be 85?"
He asked, "Do you smoke tobacco, or drink beer or
wine?"
"Oh no," I replied. "I'm not doing drugs, either."
Then he asked, "Do you eat rib-eye steaks and
barbecued ribs?"
I said, "No, my former doctor said that all red meat
is very unhealthy!"
"Do you spend a lot of time in the sun, like playing
golf, sailing, hiking, or tennis?"
"No, I don't," I said.
He asked, "Do you gamble, drive fast cars, or have a
lot of sex?"
"No," I said. "I don't do any of those things."
He looked at me, puzzled, and said, "Then why on earth do you
care?"

I also heard that Mormons don't really live longer. Just no drinking, smoking, and running around makes it seems longer.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with wine, or beer, or any other alcholic beverage for that matter. The Mormon obsession with alcohol as a moral issue is yet another example of how it trivializes morality.
Yes, one can abuse alcohol. In which case, the old maxim "moderation in all things" is appropriate. Yes this simple principle has been around at least since the time of Aristotle, centuries before Christ and millennia before Joseph Smith.
It is not necessary to embed such a simple, powerful common sense principle with a bunch of superstitious, religious moral nonsense.
God . . . "who mouths morals to other people and has none himself; who frowns upon crimes, yet commits them all; who created man without invitation, . . . and finally, with altogether divine obtuseness, invites this poor, abused slave to worship him ..."

I have never yet met an alcoholic who didn't start with moderation. And it here that we find the nut in the nutshell. Moderation is a tough concept with alcohol.
I intend to lay a foundation that will revolutionize the whole world.

We are “to feed the hungry, to clothe the naked, to provide for the widow, to dry up the tear of the orphan, to comfort the afflicted, whether in this church, or in any other, or in no church at all…”
