Why no mention of Heavenly mother?
The September six can attest to the vicious reaction one gets in mainstream mormondom. Why, if the family unit is so eternal must all attention be paid to Heavenly Father? Why is there no revelation about her? What does this say about the patriarchal order of Mormonism?

The answer I always got, which is probably far from being doctrine, was that God respects women SO much that He knew the wicked men of this Earth would degrade her. So, to protect her, He forbade mentioning her at all.

I am sure the resident Mormon male chauvinist(bcspace) could tell us why.Mercury wrote:The September six can attest to the vicious reaction one gets in mainstream mormondom. Think about this.. according to Mormon theology there are numerous wives of Elohim and only one Elohim. These wives serve one purpose for the all powerful god, a purpose that any of his wives could fulfill.

Perhaps not since I am not a male chauvinist as per your requirement. In fact, being a TBM absolutely precludes one from being a chauvinist.
However, I would like to bring Genesis 3:1-3 to your attention which equates the image of God to a married couple. Not many other Christian sects accept a female component of God much less Him having a wife(s).

That's true. It's also why God doesn't mention His half brother, Leslie.

This is the answer I always got from my Dad.
I never heard that Elohim had multiple wives, as posited by Boaz & Lidia. Any references you can throw my way?

If I recall correctly, the 1978 GP Manual mentions a Heavenly Mother. I'm not sure about the current one. There's also hymn #292.
I've heard some speculate that the reason She isn't mentioned more often is because we do not all have the same Heavenly Mother.
