You need to be a Right-Wing Conservative to be a Mormon?

Agency. Freedom? Do you really think Jesus set out to enforce his ideology through governmental coercion? I guess that's the difference between us.
Mok do you know who the richest man in the world is? It's not Bill Gates, who the liberals are always complaining about. He lives in Mexico City. He's a Mexican. As long as we keep trying to help the poor and needy, he's going to continue importing poverty that he basically helped create and took advantage of to us, just like many other Latin American phat cats. If anyone needs to be coerced to help the needy, it's people like him.
Part of that gets back to the values that differ between atheist and believers. I'd rather die fighting people like the Latin American aristocracy than continue to pay them to keep their people in their own country.
My question is, If the liberals really care about the poor, why is it that the only people they criticize are wealthy white Americans? What about wealthy Latin Americans? Wouldn't it be better to try to fix a broken system than to just throw money at it? Or maybe it's up to the Latin American people to fix their own system? When do they ever criticize the way professional athletes spend their money? Did you see how many Russian women are at Wimbledon? Russia is a poor country. Tennis is too expensive for most Americans to play competitively. How did that happen?
And when the confederates saw Jackson standing fearless as a stone wall the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

No need to shift the blame. If only obfuscates the issue of actually doing something to help the poor and needy. Latin America, eh?

It just seems that who the left chooses to blame and tax shows a lot about their true intentions. Again, why does the answer to every world problem have to be solved by taxing middle class America? And that's what it comes down to. There are not enough wealthy people to generate revenue from just taxing people who make over $200,000 a year. Whenever you advocate violent government seizure of private property you should at least try to dress it up in some semblance of fairness.
The policy that the left has on this is definitely unfair enough that I would go to war over this in a heartbeat. There is a point where talk doesn't change anything. If someone is determined to enforce unfairness upon you, you either have to submit or fight back. I don't see anything Christian about being generous with other peoples money.

I do. I think caring for the populace is the most Christian of principles, although other religions and even the ethics of non-believers also endorse this principle.
Wanting to withhold resources to be shared, is basically the morality of greed.

Moksha, I rather like your simplification into the main point here.
I was thinking that even though nobody likes taxes and it is true that taxes can grow to a point of being oppressive ther is the othre side to consider. All of the dollars we have are not only printed by the federal government but the are economically created by a combination of individual work and the context of social order and assistance that the federal government contributes(through the financing of taxes) Taxes are a pain but they contribute to the social order which allows the making of money.
I also cannot help but wanting to add that Liberals have hardly been unconcerned about wealth and polititical oppression south of the border. In fact such concern is almost a liberal cliché for the past 100 years. Are Mormons even aware of liberal political thought except throught the demonization projected by others?

Does caring for others justify theft and the removal of agency? I think not.

It is, but such is not part of conservative philosophy or part of any conservative party platform that I know of. Forcing others to make the right choice is contrary to LDS doctrine. Satan's plan actually. That is why to be politically left-wing is to be an antiMormon.

I would agree if it were your money. But it's not. What gives you the right to do what Robin Hood does? Do you think Robin Hood's actions are morally sound? Perhaps that the difference between us.

There is also an anarchist element to illegal immigration. People who facilitate and participate in illegal immigration under the justification that it's a bad law are not living by the social contract. How would this be different from me blowing up an abortion clinic (let's assume in this hypo that I didn't kill anyone) to stop the doctors from performing abortions. I think legalized abortion is a bad law. Wouldn't that make me a hero? I guess it depends on whose perspective you choose to view it from, unless you choose to believe that unborn children don't have a perspective.
Moshka I really can't believe you think you have the right to be generous with another man's money. That's just wrong. Many people have died to protect their right to private property. If I can't protect my property and have some power to make decisions and govern my life, is life better? I think not. Better to seize and oppurtunity to fight before submitting to something like that.
It sounds like the old, "Having kids is my business, but paying for it is yours!" What a deal!

To me, the Gospel of Jesus is for everyone regardless of their political stripe. I also think it
is unfortunate that the Church has allowed itself affiliation with ultra-right wing politics, since that
has probably tempered some of their decisions.
This would include then, Nazis, I presume?
How about Marxist-Leninists, with all that implies?
