When I first saw the site it looked much different.

Still, it didn't have the look or feel or professionalism of most of the official sites. My first impression was that it was created by some members who want to help the church.

Could be wrong.

That was my impression too, but the Church's "Official Website" and "2008 Intellectual Reserve" was at the end of the site. I suppose it could have been copied from an official source.

I suspect it was taken down because the YouTube video of President Hinckley's remarks was followed by links to videos of Simon Southerton and Steve Benson. :)

It was rather the abortive effort, wasn't it?

Maybe someone inadvertently FTP'ed the base files to the server prior to web-design correlation.
