Another reason true church is better

Dude is suing church for 'god injury'.

A man said he was so consumed by the spirit of God that he fell and hit his head while at a Knoxville church. Now he wants Lakewind Church to pay $2.5 million for medical bills, lost income, and pain and suffering he said he's endured from his injuries.

Matt Lincoln, 57, says he decided to sue the church after its insurance company denied his claim for medical bills. Lincoln has had two surgeries since the June 2007 incident but said he still feels pain in his back and his legs.

The Sevier County man said he was asking God to have "a real experience" while praying at church. He said he has fallen from the force of the spirit before but has always been caught by someone. Lawyers for the church said other congregants saw him on the floor laughing after his fall. They said he failed to look out for his own safety.

Not our "Dude" right? Just some Dude? Seems silly now.

But it might be possible, at some future time, with fine tuned legalistics and scientific connections of religious-cause to obvious negative-effects of following some church's teachings that evoke malevolent behavior resulting in personal abuses or criminal activity...

Wonder if they could work on retroactivity? Like for pain & suffering endured by the guilt of not attending sacrament mtgs; not paying a full tithe; masterbating; lusting, et al?? Must be liability insurance for such cases on the horizon... A time of responsible accountability coming!?

Maybe one of these days, organizations will be able to be sued by those who donated money then discovered they were misled and deceived?

Maybe then some religions woud stop using the "milk before meat" excuse to mislead people.

I heard on the news today that a woman in France is suing the Church of Scientology for misleading her as she donated $28,000 to the org.

I'm not one who loves the idea of suing but I am for organizations being honest, upfront, and not misleading devotees/members. Making false claims and/or not disclosing the truth of the organization to get members is not something I support.
