The gay marriage ban is imposing beliefs on others.

More questions for Scottie...

1. How is it that you think religious persons manage to impose their beliefs into law?

By electing those who hold their same views.

2. Are there other laws that you think are tied to religious beliefs? If so, what are they?

In a way, no prayer in school is imposing religious beliefs on others.
No selling of alcohol in Utah County on Sundays (BY LAW) is imposing LDS beliefs on others.

Quickie reply for Scottie:

Scottie:
By electing those who hold their same views.

Jersey Girl: Isn't the solution to that for non-religious folks to become more politically proactive?

Scottie:
In a way, no prayer in school is imposing religious beliefs on others.

Jersey Girl: I somewhat agree with you there. While I was one who attended school prior to the ban on prayer, I tend to support the ban itself. Anyone can pray in school (just ask teachers!). I just don't think it should be a teacher led part of the school day.

Scottie:
No selling of alcohol in Utah County on Sundays (BY LAW) is imposing LDS beliefs on others.

Jersey Girl: I disagree with you on this. If religious folks REALLY wanted to impose their beliefs on the community, they likely would ban the selling of alcohol outright. I don't see how banning it for ONE DAY out of SEVEN is asking too much from the rest of the community.

Not YELLING at you, too lazy to bold right now.

With regards to the imposing of one's religious beliefs on others and the ban on school prayer.

Where I live, it is not uncommon for the local public school system to rent space to new church congregations on Sunday.

Is it okay to allow the expression of religious belief's on public property such as a public school for a fee?

Also, if there is a ban on prayer in public schools, why are we allowing National Day of Prayer gatherings on school property?

How to make sense of all of this?

Well, sure, they could impose their beleifs more than they do, but that doesn't mean they haven't imposed them all the same.

Oh stop it! ;-)

In the above scenario, it's obviously the non-religious who are persecuting the religious SIX DAYS out of seven by allowing the sale of alcohol for those six days.

If you wanna get snockered on Sunday, learn to stock up on Saturday.

The key is organization, Scottie.
