Elohim is a God of miracles

Post by _The Dude »

A tragedy:

Yahoo wrote:NESKOWIN, Ore. – A romantic marriage proposal on the Oregon coast turned deadly for the bride-to-be when a wave swept her out to sea. Scott Napper had taken 22-year-old Leafil Alforque to Proposal Rock near Neskowin Beach to pop the question at a place that got its name from couples ready to marry. Napper and Alforque had been dating since they met on the Internet in 2005.

...Napper said the tide had receded around Proposal Rock on Saturday when the couple began to walk to it. He planned to propose and give her the ring he carried in his pocket.

About 10 feet from the rock, a wave about 3 feet high suddenly came toward them.

"I turned into it to keep from getting pulled under it," Napper said.
By the time he turned to find Alforque, only 4-foot-11 and 93 pounds, she had been caught by the receding waters.

"She was about 30 feet away, getting swept away," Napper said.
The 45-year-old Silverton man tore off his jacket to get rid of any extra weight, and when he looked up again she was gone.
"That's the last I saw of her," he said in an interview Wednesday, breaking into tears.

..."I yelled for her," he said. "I was praying to God."

...Thick fog and dangerous water conditions hampered the rescue efforts before the search was suspended on Monday.

Her 25-year-old sister, Nova Alforque, said the family hopes the body can be recovered.

"My mother is always crying, day and night," Nova Alforque said by telephone from the Philippines. "She wants my sister back. Even if she is dead, she wants her body to bury."

...Police don't suspect foul play, he said.

Apparently the local police aren't religious.

What in the hell is a 45 year old man doing with a 22 year old girl?!?!?!?

Details. In the eternal perspective, 23 years is nothing.

Searching for his lost youth?
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

That's the only concern that comes to mind in a tragedy that takes a loved one from a family, her fiance and their future? How very, very sad...

You're right, The Dude: Elohim is a God of miracles, and this proves it.

You see, this 45 year-old wasn't meant to be with this 22 year-old. This incident was God's way of telling him that their age was a veritable gulf between them, that he needed to quit fishing for girls online, that there were more fish in the sea, and that the potential ocean of problems couldn't just be dismissed with a wave.
"Finally, for your rather strange idea that miracles are somehow linked to the amount of gay sexual gratification that is taking place would require that primitive Christianity was launched by gay sex, would it not?"

Your post really ties the thread together, Dr. Shades.

And next time I have a dream (or hallucination) that bugs me, I know where to go for an upsightful interpretation. There's this one about bowling....

That's quite funny! And clever.

A bit heartless, I suppose.

But funny.

Incidentally, I don't think the age difference is that big of a deal. They're both adults. They have known each other a long time. The woman apparently was a willing participant. Who knows, maybe the guy had skills that she could appreciate. I've often thought that the best match, in terms of sexuality, is a 40-year-old woman with a 20-year-old man, and a 40-year-old man with a 20-year-old woman. Some might disagree, but biology doesn't.

That's pretty heartbreaking stuff. One of the saddest stories I've read.

Could it be, not being Americans, you from Australia, and me Canadian, we have a different sense of "heartbreaking stuff"?

IF I were a Mod, I think that OP, and what generally followed, should have been looked at with a sensitivity that to me appears lacking. Profanity be FU*KED!

It's pain & hurt in people's lives that should not be mocked by some juvenile ideas of faulting an imaginary entity--"Elohim"--to attack Mormonism or any other religious sect.

IMSCO, you who are engaging in Bullying the defensless and grief stricken, need to rethink your response...
