The Sham is Over: Confessions of a Counterfeit Intellectual

Post by _Analytics »

I recently had one of the most humbling experiences of my life. I used to think that I was at least of average maturity, if not of average intelligence and sophistication. But I have discovered that if you made a maturity scale ranging from 1 to 10, with 1 being the least mature and 10 being the most mature, an objective grader would rank me somewhere around a negative 25.

I say this because I know in my heart of hearts that only the superlatively immature would find anything at all the least bit funny about the following video. Indeed, people with even a scant trace of common decency would find this video in such bad taste that they’d want to organize protests to exempt such things from 1st amendment protection.

The video is really that bad.

And I don’t think anything has made me laugh so hard. How could something so lowbrow be so funny to a guy like me? I’ve read Moby Dick for crying out loud!

It’s relatively easy to agree that only Homo sapiens can speak about things that don’t really exist, and believe six impossible things before breakfast. You could never convince a monkey to give you a banana by promising him limitless bananas after death in monkey heaven.

I've read Moby Dick, too. Unfortunately. One of the worst reads of my life!

But I LOVE the video, Analytics! I'm so glad it's back. My kids were looking for it a while ago and it had been removed due to the protests of its flatulent star.

Not that you're relieved by the fact that I also like the video, but on the off chance that you are, don't be. I also like Homestar Runner and all the goofy cartoons my daughter draws, especially The Adventures of Mullet Man.

I wouldn't say it's hilarious, but it's definitely funny.

Check this out.

Probably the best comedy bit I've ever seen:

Hey, it brought tears to MY eyes!
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

Did you hate "To Kill a Mockingbird", "Gone With the Wind", "1984", "No Man knows my History" too?
It takes a good reader to hate "Moby Dick".

Definitely *not* showing that one to the family, but...

One of my favorite stand-up routines is Demetri Martin's notepad schtick, but Youtube doesn't have it.

Normally I'd find this video funny, but I have a real life friend who farts just like that.

I remember seeing Farting Preacher 4 about four years ago, and I don't remember laughing harder at anything prior or since. It just so clever the way they work them in to what he's saying, his facial expressions, and body language, and it seems they always pick the right sounding fart for the occasion.

Absolute gold.
