To Whom is God Talking?
To whom is God talking? (Or better, who claims God is speaking to them)?
Here are a few names that come to my mind:
Brian David Mitchel (Elizabeth Smart's kidnapper)
Warren Jeffs
The Nehor*
Nightlion*
BaethKu*
Jim Jones
Yisrayl Hawkins
Neale Donald Walsch
David Koresh
Winston Blackmore
Ron and Dan Lafferty
Jim Harmston
Paul Kingston
My former bishop
Who else?
And, while the LDS church claims God is speaking to their prophet, has TSM ever made the claim? GBH seemed to suggest God did not directly speak to him but that he got an impression or two.
And, is it official doctrine that God speaks to the LDS prophet?

What about Jim Morrison of the Doors? He spoke to us in many strange riddles. Could they have been inspired? It seems he even gave up his life for the cause. He died during his baptism.

God speaks to me, so long as you assume Google is god. He has all the answers.
God belief is for people who don't want to live life on the universe's terms.

There is no such thing as trickle-down revelation. Either the flood gates are open and knowledge is poured down from heaven or they are shut. So lets see who is one tune Sammy.
I not certain if BaethKu will man up and deliver anything more than a ricochet or two playing off my lead. I am conflicted. Forty years I have longed to meet anyone able to take me on. And this guy seems like he already knows that he has surpassed me by leaps and bounds. Cool.
He's gonna flake out. I'll be broken-hearted-------again.
Here's a thought BaethKu an alter-ego DCP? Naw. No way man.
I had already told Shades I was about to check out. And now this!

Says who? You?

You don't get to be the one who arbitrates that for anyone but yourself, Nightlion.

You're deluding yourself if you think you're leading anyone, especially here.
I am conflicted.
And a few other things.

That makes two of you out in left field. I'm not sure a team can have two left fielders.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

Re: To Whom is God Talking?
Hi TD,
This AM I listened-to/watched DVDs by Michael Dowd, "Thank God for Evolution" Highly recommend them...
He suggests, as I long have, "God is a three letter word referencing different things to different folks..." Or words/thoughts to that effect...
Sooooooooooooo "God" communicates to me--more than with me--as "God" does to others--particularly scientists--who bring new-&-good thoughts/information into practice that takes us to a higher level of performance to the bennefit of oneself/family and altimately humanity...
I don't know if there are many in your list that rise to that level??? Dowd is really someone to listen to, among others. (Like Spong ;-) He calls himself a Cre-atheist :-)

Whoa there! We are off to the races. I think you are mistaken about me. I make no claims about a great calling. I am a student, and I am trying to make my way like other students. My sense from what I have read of your website is that you claim such a calling, or that you have entered onto that path. My intention is not to "take any one on." I don't consider this a competition or a game. My hope is that you do not either, but were just casually speaking here. Surpassed you by leaps and bounds? Hardly. I came to ask questions and learn, and I thought I would share some of what I have learned. That is it.

Well, if by flake out you mean refuse to compete in some sort of prophetic rivalry, then I hate to tell you that I never committed to enter one or intended to start such a thing. I am reading your blog, your writings, and I hope to learn. Please don't burden me with such high expectations.

I can assure you that I am not an alter-ego to Peterson. So, yeah, no way man. I hope you stick around to share more of your insights. I was especially enjoying the history lesson, because you are certainly far beyond me there.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH!
Sorry everyone. But it just gets so lonely up here on top of the heap.
I do not say stuff like that from grandious delusion. I just want to be funny. This is the first time I have boarded with the intent to be somewhat entertaining. The Lord has given up on the Church so it is ..........kay sara sara, what ever will be will be..........will zion be you or me....?...kay sara sara................
If you happen to read some of my play on my website A MOMENT IN TIME http://www.fireark.org/A%20MOMENT%20IN%20TIME%20a%20musical%20play%20by%20James%20Q.%20Muir.pdfyou will realize I have a dramatic side or two. All the music is in the music files, to listen to but as you can imagine there was no church group to help perform it. I am not in with artsy folks either.
Oh, yeah? well I did try and really put myself out there. Nothin. So I took it as far as I was able.

Well, if it is lonely at the top, I don't know it by anything other than the reports of others.

Re: To Whom is God Talking?
Truth Dancer, I am wondering why your list of candidates are so full of nothing interesting or significant to say. Is drivil a special indicator of inspiration from God? Pause, sorry if I have mischaracterized somebody on that list by association. I do not know each and every one. But still it is not a list of people evidencing inspriation. Why not a list with Martin Luther King, Theodore Roosevelt, Reinhold Neibur, Bonnhoffer, Woody Gutherie?
Is it a problem that good ideas or interesting ideas that move us creatively have some footing in natural thought process? They make sense, does that mean they are not inspried?
I suspect inspiration is more ordinary and in fact occurs to all sorts of people not just the famous. It occurs to baseball players, tennis players, nurses, doctors, auto mechanics, bus drivers, store clerks, it occurs to people at home, people alone, people with children, it occurs to people on trains, driving cars, and walking up the front steps of their home.
It may not occur to people who point to themselves as special conduits of Gods message. The evedence? The special conduits tend to be full of both themselves and drivil.
