Maybe they are inspired. ;)
Well, that means God reads us!
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.
A funny conference moment for me was the talk by the apostle Elder Hales? who was witnessing for Christ to help those struggling to believe. He said something like “we know our redeemer lives because the ancient Prophets saw Him.”

As someone who spent all my non-conference time today packing boxes and cleaning because I'm moving I find your list unimpressive. Sorry.

The Nehor wrote:...He talked about how some sins of children have to be reacted to. He said that when dealing with wayward (adult) children who live with serious sin neither ignoring their sin or expelling them from all family functions is appropriate. Instead, prayer should be used to get information on how to proceed.
Oh crickey Thanks for the warning. When some random act of parental craziness happens, I'll know why.
I agreed with his comparisons in how we still love our children even though we require rules and give consequences for breaking them in our home, but then he brings up the final judgment and how we will only receive a glory based on the law we lived. (i.e. eternal separation from our family and God) So as a parent with unconditional love I would lock the door and banish my child from ever progressing??? This life is just about proving that they really are a bad child?
By chance did you happen to see my thread in the Celestial entitled: "Base Matter and the Light of Christ?" It talks about this very subject and might offer you some insight in regards to this topic. Click Here
We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light. - Plato

Hey Bridget. I've been researching consecrations and anointings this weekend. Some women of early Mormondom actually did anoint and bless the sick.

Oh, I'm well aware of that Mike. The problem is, Mormonism is a religion centered around modern-day revelation, key word there being "modern-day." The fact that women aren't allowed to do such things in our day and age doesn't bode well for the "women already hold the priesthood" position.
by the way, really looking forward to reading your thesis (when I can ILL myself a copy).

I misunderstood what you were saying then, and I assumed that you were making a blanket statement about Mormon history (as a whole). Thanks for the clarification.

Do you live near SLC? I just got a certificate last week from the Church, saying that the LDS Church History Library accepted a copy of my thesis for their archives (one of their head historians/photo archivists asked me to donate a copy). Very very flattering, to say the least. Unfortunately though, the certificate they sent dated my thesis incorrectly. They dated it 2004 instead of 2009.
Arrrrrgh, I can't watch general conference on my computer! I could watch it in about 80 different languages, IF I had an MS or Apple operating system. What have they got against Linux! It's a bloody conspiracy!
Now I have to convince one of the kids to swap. That won't be easy.
Any tips for conference viewing for interested exmos? What are the must-see talks?
ETA: OK, LDSinc have just installed some software on my work notebook. Lucky I'm not the paranoid type. Now I can listen while I do my chores.
Well. There was nothing, absolutely nothing, new under the sun in the Sat morning session. Seems to be a bit of a focus on listening to the HG. Only trouble is how do you know it is the real holy ghost cause, cause boy will you be in trouble if it isn't the real thing. Seemed Elder Uchtdorf is by far the most interesting to listen to though. Makes a nice change.
The preponderance of smooth shiny foreheads had me googling up old images (candid, since LDS PR must have shares in photoshop). Yep, they have indeed discovered botox in the COB. Or maybe the FP are taking tips from the three Nephites.
