Does the LDS church care about families?
Yes
Do they care about children?
yes
As I have stated numerous times, I just do not understand in any way whatsoever, how gay/lesbian marriage can harm children or families.
Intelligent persons may differ in opinion. They may believe it is best for a child to be in a Mom and Dad home.
For the life of me I can't figure out how it makes any difference (for those not involved)whether a couple (living together, forming a family, raising children) gets officially married or not. (I can see only positive results from this).
You could be right. You may be wrong.
What I do see is a Country that has over half a million children in the foster care system (residential centers, group homes, etc); many sexually, physically, and emotionally abused.
I see a huge need to help children; to provide homes, stability, love and care.
Sure
It baffles me why the LDS church is completely obsessed with gay/lesbian marriage but completely unconcerned about the real problems facing children.
I think your leap here is a rather huge one. The two are no mutually exclusive.
Here in VA many religious organizations are stepping up and creating all sorts of programs to improve the lives of children who have been dealt a seriously bad hand, the LDS church seems completely oblivious to what is really hurting children and families.
Do they? And you conclude this based on what? Actually I think the LDS Church is very concerned about the plight of children.
