Amazing Book of Mormon Prophecies

I find it interesting that the prophecies made by Book of Mormon prophets were very specific for events that would take place later on in the Book of Mormon narrative, and for actual historic events that would take place before 1830. However, the prophecies of events after 1830 get really vague. I wonder why that is. Here are a couple of the specific prophecies in the Book of Mormon that we all learned about in Sunday School. Remember, these prophets are prophesying hundreds of years into the future, sometimes thousands of years into the future, yet their prophecies are extremely accurate and very descriptive.

Lehi prophecies of Christ. This prophecy was in 600BC and 600 years later, in the Book of Mormon, Christ came!!!

Samuel the Lamanite prophesied Christ would come in 5 years, and amazingly, Christ came five years later!!

124 years before Christ, King Benjamin Prophesied that the Messiah's name will be Jesus Christ, and his mom's name will be Mary. He nailed it!!!

In 73 BC, Alma predicts that 400 years after Christ comes the Nephites will dwindle in unbelief and shortly after they shall become extinct. If you turn to the last chapters of Mormon, the people start dwindling in unbelief and when you look at the date on the bottom of the page it says Around 400AD. That is just plain creepy that a guy can predict that almost exactly to the day hundreds of years before it happens. Then, Moroni is the last Nephite and he writes his last chapter around 421 AD. The Nephites are completely extinct shortly after 400 years after Christ. That cannot be a coincidence!!

600 years before Christ, Nephi prophecies of a great church built amongst the gentiles in the future that he describes in great detail and it fits the description of the Catholic church. How did he know?

2000 years before Columbus, Nephi gives a very accurate prophecy of him after seeing him in a vision. He also claims the beautiful and fair White gentiles that followed him will conquer the Americas with God on their side while carrying a Bible, and the wrath of god will be against the native savages because they were the seed of Nephi's wicked brothers. A little un-PC, but Nephi is just telling it like it is...2000 years before it happened. Holy crap!!

2300 Years before the American Revolution Nephi gave a clear prophecy of the American revolution.

About 2400 years before Joseph Smith, Nephi prophecies that the Book of Mormon shall come forth through a man, and three witnesses shall get to see it. This is getting downright scary. Nephi makes Nostradamus look like a girl scout.

About 2400 years before Joseph Smith, Nephi prophesied that the Bible thumpers in Joseph Smith's town would not like the idea of him introducing a new Bible. Nephi even knew that there would be a book called a "Bible" long before Bibles were invented.


Interestingly, I don't see any specific timelines for anything after 1830. Lots of vague stuff about people turning evil in the latter days and Lamanites turning pure and joining the church, but nothing as specific as these earlier prophecies. There are no dates for the second coming like there were for the first coming. Are there any specific prophecies for events after 1830 that are as specific as the prophecies of the coming of Jesus and these other awesome prophecies?

Yup -- in the "sealed plates."

There is this one In 3 Nephi 16:
8 But wo, saith the Father, unto the unbelieving of the Gentiles—for notwithstanding they have come forth upon the face of this land, and have scattered my people who are of the house of Israel; and my people who are of the house of Israel have been cast out from among them, and have been trodden under feet by them;
9 And because of the mercies of the Father unto the Gentiles, and also the judgments of the Father upon my people who are of the house of Israel, verily, verily, I say unto you, that after all this, and I have caused my people who are of the house of Israel to be smitten, and to be afflicted, and to be slain, and to be cast out from among them, and to become hated by them, and to become a hiss and a byword among them—
10 And thus commandeth the Father that I should say unto you: At that day when the Gentiles shall sin against my gospel, and shall reject the fulness of my gospel, and shall be lifted up in the pride of their hearts above all nations, and above all the people of the whole earth, and shall be filled with all manner of lyings, and of deceits, and of mischiefs, and all manner of hypocrisy, and murders, and priestcrafts, and whoredoms, and of secret abominations; and if they shall do all those things, and shall reject the fulness of my gospel, behold, saith the Father, I will bring the fulness of my gospel from among them.

This prophecy says that the "LDS Church" Gentiles will be lifted up in the pride of their hearts above all nations. Think about any TBM who thinks he is honoring his divine nature by following the brethren for the ilk of this kind of pride.

This prophecy also says that the gospel will be brought out from among them. Like the gospel was taken from the Jews. So this prophesies the end of the time of the Gentiles. (Mormons ARE TOAST! salt that has lost its savor if you will) by the way this was fulfilled just this year, April 3, 2009 to be exact. Ya know when I showed you the Mountain Ensign witness thing? So the Book of Mormon has scored a true prophecy one hundred eighty years after it was written. Cool!
