The story says it happened 20+ years ago. But, he paid here to keep her mouth shut(about the happening - not around him naked in a hot tub with the 15 year old)

A regrettable mistake would have been for a married 30-year-old to be naked in a hot tub with maybe a 18-year-old. This is not that, one cannot just apologize for an adult/child rendevous. . . or whatever you want to call it. This was a gross violation of a law. People who do this are supposed to be brought to justice and labeled a sexual-predator for the rest of their lives. Garn should be no different. Payment, no matter how high the price, should never be a replacement for penalty of this kind of violation.

They applauded with him for coming clean when he found out she was going to the news first...that's not bravery worthy of applause; it's damage control. Bad, bad thing to do. I don't think there's a statute of limitations on this kind of thing. I suggest that charges of indecency with a minor be brought against him.

I also don't like her either taking hush money as an adult to keep quiet about the whole thing and later blowing it up......and then blaming the ruination of her life on something like this at the age of 16. This caused all kinds of addictions and mental health issues? Blaming the downfall of her life on once being nude with a guy in a hottub? Initially being offered $20,000 and then her husband making her insist she needed $150,000 in exchange for an NDA. Then, when she divorces from that guy she decides she needs "compensation and justice"

Kevin Garn, Utah Hosue Majority Leader comes clean yesterday on an episode with a 15-yr old in the hot tub when he was 28.

Instead of calling for Garn's resignation, the Utah House gave him a round of applause as he returned as majority leader. Of course both parties claim nothing happened but soaking....yeah and that was worth $150,000 to stay quiet?

What is really interesting about this story is how the House responded in a round of applause. Nobody cares that he kept his escapade with a (subordinate employee) young woman secret? This has a familiar ring to it...

Yeah, I can't think of any reason for them to applaud. He paid a woman off to keep her quiet and he is only coming out now because she did. What has he done that is applause worthy? Tell us the truth because he was forced to?
